It has been confirmed that the visuals we see on Alpha currently ARE placeholders. This was said in reference to Demonsurge, we aren't certain this will also apply to the new Empowered abilities too but that would be ideal.
MYSTERIOUS STACKING 10% BUFF
Seemed very odd at first because it gave 10% extra demonsurge dmg, stacking up to 5, every time you used a demonsurge and Meta would reset the stack.
So we initially thought you'd get a 10% from your first DS which would apply to your 2nd. Then you'd use your 2nd and get a 20% buff but then reset with Meta. Then use your next 5 Demonsurges and get a 40% buff on the final one but then the 50% would be a waste because we have nothing to spend it on.
We thought this because it appeared as though the buff was not applying until AFTER Demonsurge did damage.
We can now see when we look at logs, that the very first Demonsurge does indeed have the 10% buff on it. Meaning the buff is applied to the DS spend that triggers it. So our final Demonsurge IS being affected by the 50% buff.
DEMONSURGE DAMAGE
Looking at the log, we can see while playing a Low-Mover build, that Demonsurge is 9% of our overall damage in a dungeon and placing 3rd, right under DS.
This is BEFORE that damage is being amplified by our Mastery. It is still only registering as Fire damage and not Chaos. So we can expect another ~25-30%, potentially even more with the Student of Suffering buff.
Because this damage is still only Fire and not Chaos, this also means it's not benefitting from Chaotic Disposition, which will increase it even more.
Safe to assume that Demonsurge will do a LOT of damage when all is said and done.
STUDENT OF SUFFERING
Double use of Sigil of Flame does not give a double stack of the buff, nor does it extend it. It only refreshes it back to 8s
~24-25% uptime on the buff.
BURNING BLADES
Still only registering as Fire damage and not converting to Chaos. Damage seems a little low so it could be that WCL isn't an accurate read of it (considering the tooltip is wrong too) It's a direct duplicate of Soulrend, so the tooltip is only showing Throw Glaive and not Annihilation + Auto Attack Damage. It may also be because mobs were dying quickly.
After further inspection, Annihilation is not refreshing Burning Blades dot
DEMONIC/META UPTIME
Actually didn't feel that punishing in a dungeon while playing Cycle of Hatred and Shattered Destiny. Normally the excessive downtime in a dungeon would feel really bad because you end up dropping out of Demon form often and the value of those talents disappears. But with this Hero Talent tree, it was actually OK and sometimes even GOOD to drop out of Demon Form because that meant you could get back into it with an Eye Beam and get Demonsurges again.
If you extend your demon form, you don't get Demonsurges. You only get Demonsurges on the FIRST use of an empowered ability in Demon Form.

    Weird to see how Jedith has changed. At least it seems that way to me. He used to really push for Havoc to be more complex and favored the talents that added some complexity to the spec like Momentum. Felt like he was always fighting against the allegations from other classes that DH was a brain dread class. Like he didn’t accept why most people who main DH chose to do so: because its simple and fun. But now it’s different. He seems like he can confidently enjoy the super simple and fun play styles of DH and might even enjoy them more. As someone who started playing DH because it feels like “Devil May Cry in WoW” and because it lets me focus on Raid mechanics more than my rotation it’s cool to see.

    No mover, no throw glaive, no fel rush, big fat ol’ eye beams- Don’t tell me that because then I won’t be able to wait for the War Within to come. I have missed playing my DH almost as much as my Frost DK

    This is great Fel-Scarred can be for Demonic plant and Blast playstyle. Aldrachi Reaver when they fix it can be the Movement style.

    If demonsurge damage is really good when this goes live I could imagine a world were Havoc actually doesn’t want to stay in Demon form for as long as possible and instead wants drop in and drop out. Which is very interesting and a pretty noticeable alteration to our core gameplay loop. Definitely very thematic as the tree is about being a DH that has fully embraced using demon transformation.

    thanks for the deep dive I would like it if they adjust the demon surge animation to make it look like a fel fire nova, or a tick of hellfire from warlock back in the days.. nothing too crazy so that it can kinda be in the background but still noticable if it happens

    Ideally, we'd have both movement and non movement viable. Hopefully, with these hero talents, that will be the case.... but it's bliz. We just have to sit and see.

    If both specs deal the same damage but one is harder to play, everyone will just play the easier one. I think there should be some reward to a higher skill ceiling. What do you think?

    i think it wouldve been so cool to have talents that reduce meta cooldown. for example how fire mage has the cooldown reduction on combust on crits etc. or to have some sort of buff that once you leave demon form, you will get into demon form faster somehow. so you would have a more focused playstyle on getting in - and out - of demon form. kind disappointed with both talent trees, ngl :( time will tell... or the 0.1% chance blizz reworking atleast one of the talent trees before tww)

    I think demonsurge should proc no matter if u extend meta or enter it again with eyebeam.. just like inner demon

    do you have logs for a complete no mover build? how does it compare to low mover?

    Initiative is just too good to not take in a dungeon because you get the crit buff any time you engage a new enemy. You could take initiative and just not use the VR aspect of it and still do very well.

    @@Jedithtv in a dungeon setting that makes sense. i was asking more from a raid boss perspective, wanted to know how the logs looked on bosses between no mover and low mover, i just want to plant and play.

    Honestly, I think the thing that feels the worst in this is that you don't get more demonsurges during meta. Maybe a tier set bonus?

    You don't get more demonsurges but you get 5 demonsurges right away and then you get extra 30% dmg on your immo, eye beam & sigil for as long as you can stay in meta. Pretty good trade off

    I think the point is to go In and Out of Meta often. Not stay in it as long as possible. It changes how we play. People seem to be misunderstanding that

    Fingers crossed aldrachi reaver doesn’t end up blowing fel scarred out of the water damage wise because this is such a better hero talent tree. Plz no more micro buff windows

    I know this sounds simple but I don't care about the movement style versus stand still style. I care about eye beaming metamorphosizing and death sweeping.

    Havoc needs complete rework...small windows for doing damage... the new things we got a new throw glaive and "fart" as some content creators say... srsly it's nothing much as play style... again tight windows for doing damage...

    Aldrachi just isn't enjoyable to watch or play. Fel scarred is so much better and I hope they rework Aldrachi in the future

    I agree fully. We got our look at both trees while they were still very undercooked so there may still be hope for Aldrachi yet
