Sabine Hossenfelder just posted a short video about this. She's a very famous and successful physicist. Terrence knows absolutely nothing about math or physics. If you believe anything he said, please go watch her video. It only took her about 10 minutes to totally demolish anything he claims. She's not going to waste much time on this gibberish. Multiplication- a mathematical operation that indicates how many TIMES a number is ADDED to ITSELF. Does not Necessarily INCREASE the quantity. What for example is 1/2 of 2 or rather 2(1/2). Half of two is one. One is less than two. last I checked. P.S. I’m no genius by far but the whole 1^2=2 thing is just way out of my depth not to mention solipsistic as hell. P.s.s. I’m a little rusty on my math but I believe multiplication is formally proven by division?

Congratulations!! This is exactly the conundrum that warrants a pause & reexamination of the established rules. WHY is it that 1 times itself is the ONLY multiplier that fails to adhere to the inverse operation rule? Until I answer that question for myself then, I will keep an open mind to the possibility that Mr Howard’s assertion may have a valid and credible application. It’s like asserting a demand: it’s either this OR that! To which I respond why can’t it be this AND that? We live in a dualistic dimension so goes the tendency of thought. However, this is not the only dimension in existence. I’m slow to come to my own conclusions but understand the tendency to maintain & defend the status quo. Wake up & be bold enough to think for yourself as opposed to defending the status quo. Until you can answer the question regarding the inverse operation rule, the argument remains open & plausible.

2(1/2) = 1 Meaning that the factor of 1/2 has increased. The factor that is being multiplied is 1/2 BY 2 therefore the increase is measured by the factor being multiplied. According to the “Dictionary of Mathematics Terms” 2nd Ed. 1995 by Douglas Downing Phd, professor at the School of Business & Economics, Seattle Pacific University page 214 states; “Multiplication is the operation of REPEATED ADDITION.” That’s the established rule I’m referring to when I state that 1x1=2 is at the very least a possibility.

Enjoy your search for truths... keep an open mind so you can change and continue. "The answers are within" understand the difference between beliefs and facts. It's when one has all the answers... what's left to explore and discover? If you're unwilling to learn basic foundational information, you will never be able to come up with anything new. Mankind has been around for tens of thousands of years. You're not going to come up with anything that someone else hasn't already thought of if you start from nothing. There have been countless billions of people who had at least that much knowledge or more. The only way you'll ever discover anything new is if you start with knowledge other people have learned and look for ways to build on that knowledge.

It's not a matter of confusing operators. Terrance Howard doesn't understand the concept of a metaphor. He hears metaphors and he thinks they are literal. So when he hears multiply and replenish the earth, he takes that literally, so he thinks that multiplying must always mean that you increase. But 0.5 x 0.5 = 0.25 A decrease. Multiply and replenish the earth is a metaphor.

Very deeply hidden. There’s no doubt that he’s a very bright person… And very charismatic and all of that. But he just seems to have inhaled his own fumes and I would love to be proven wrong. Why not?

@@07GhostHD I mean, I haven’t examined every single statement of his… But it does seem that he’s going off in his own personal direction. Now someone recently said that he sounds like someone with bipolar disorder. And I don’t understand that well enough to be able to make my armchair, diagnosis here, I mean, I have a good friend who reminds me of Mr. Howard… He has some obsessions with aliens and so on and he seems convinced of what it is that he believes in. And it’s not like he just says a crazy thing one time he says the same stuff over and over again so… Is that the foolish consistency? That’s the hob goblin of little Mines. Because he doesn’t have a little mind. When you see Tom Cruise going off on therapy or certain meds. I mean at some level he might be right. But it’s the way that he’s convinced that he’s right based on the teachings of his that make it insufferable.
