Untold Pacific History: Episode 4 - Rarotonga / The Sheraton Hotel
Ойын-сауық
This is a story of indigenous land rights gone awry, a makutu from an aggrieved family and the failed business ventures of an infamous 'haunted hotel' in Rarotonga.
In pre-colonial times, it was the scene of bloody battles between rival tribes, and ancient spirits are said to patrol the area. It is also the subject of a bitter ownership dispute that dates back more than a century and gave rise to the curse that is still said to hang over the area.
This is the ‘cursed’ Sheraton hotel complex in Rarotonga, a long-abandoned luxury resort that has lain derelict for a quarter of a century. The stories of Italian mafia connections, failed government business dealings, and indigenous land rights come together in this episode of Untold Pacific History.

I couldn't agree more with Papa Michael's comments. We need proper Agricultural activities for future sustainability.
The last remark spot on... if it's not for the local people's benefit what's the point of tourism...in Tahiti tourism belongs to rich French people whilst the locals live in poverty
Tourism brings pollution, disrespect for the locals by leaving their trash on the beaches, and other areas of the land. The property needs to be used for agricultural sustainability.
beautiful place beautiful people.
Same happened in Fiji during that year ... A resort was left in the Yasawa region called "Yasawa Paradise" known today as Paradise Cove. My step Dad who is Italian was one of the directors that time trying to build this resort, however with "Tangentopoli" happening in Italy it put a stop in bank loans which halted the project. The resort was supposed to be the first built hotel Casino in Fiji.

That’s so interesting!
When they start to do the land fight! Don't say anything? 🤐
Sounds like a bad story?
Okay.. So make that land for progress. Think about it. Don't just leave it as is... God made us evolve for the better. Use the same principle when deciding.
Sounds like a bad story.
