Untie the lines Direction South | Sailing Georgian Bay [E274]

The beginning of the Southbound adventure. It's exciting and scary at the same time. We have about a month to cover 1000 Nm to make it to the Erie Canal before it closes. We finally get to drop anchor in the Georgian Bay. It's absolutely stunning but unfortunately short lived.
Filmed August 2023.

Wow what a beautiful video with alitte of everyone Alex jumped in freezing waters. Coral found a new slide at her house not the park.Kai is really growing up too fast and watching Coral for new tricks. Cory doesn't like when he pulls up the anchor with seaweed but he really enjoys his family with new adventures and memories. Good job guys until next week 😘🏖⛵️👨‍👩‍👧‍👦❤️💗💗

You're off! These rocky islands, indeed very pretty but dangerous. Looks like mom and pa working together to keep an eye on the young ones. The deadlines are too bad, but I'm glad you can still do some exploring. An intrepid leap! Coral keeping up on her own. A snake wants to join? Nice capture at 19:26! Yes-- after all that work, I'd say you're settling into a fine life.

Surprised you found the water chilly in August. It's usually fairly warm on that side of Georgian Bay in late summer.

Great video. Beautiful family adventure. Nice sailing time. p.s. the only poisonous snake in Canada is the Massasauga Rattler. It is located on the eastern shore of Georgian Bay (!) but the numbers have declined quite a bit. When I was a kid in the 50’s around Pointe au Baril there were a few, but no incidents. Bon voyage, from BC coast.

They are rare and the Massasauga is the least aggressive of all the rattlesnakes.@@WildlyIntrepid

Rattlesnake country in Ontario is outlined by the shores of the Great Lakes. Massasaugas live all along the idyllic sides of Georgian Bay on Lake Huron, across the beaches of Lake Ontario closer to the Toronto metro area, plus amid the winelands of Lake Erie. The upshot? They are often in contact with humans, and bites regularly occur when hikers or beach goers put a foot in the wrong place.

Here in Maine, we call those rocks just below the water, "sunkers." That's because by the time you realize they are there, they've already "sunk her." 😂🤣Happy New Year, folks!

"OK, it's kinda cold" Must be Canadian "Yikes! it freezing!" would be a US kinda remark. I remember working in Frobisher Bay one summer for the CBC, wearing a jacket watching the kids play in the sprinkler at 6C. Yeah we're in Canada not much poisonous stuff here except maybe the mushrooms. Beautiful places to cruise..... why did you wanna go South again?
