No doubt Steve Reich was influenced or inspired by these ensembles. "Modern" gamelan music dates back to the 17th century. I congratulate these students from the University of North Texas for their openness to outside art forms. Very impressive performance.

Jgn sok ngaku2. Dia milik bagi setiap penabuhnya n pecintanya, apapun bangsanya. Memang dia lahir di tnh Indonesia tapi kini telah dicampakan di sebagian besar tnh kelahirannya.

I've been discovering gamelan music for the first time these past few weeks. So far, I agree. (Not to say anything bad about any other styles, of course 😁)
