    Update on Kathy Page: Unresolved. Kathy's family sued Steve in civil court, claiming that he was responsible for her death. Her mother, Dorothy, testified that she had seen Steve vigorously washing clothes on the morning after her murder. The following day, her family witnessed him cleaning the carpet in their home. He claimed that he had spilled grease on it. Sherry also testified that he had abused Kathy. Neighbors also stated that they heard loud arguments and banging on the walls coming from their home. Steve admitted that he did not want Kathy to be autopsied. Witnesses testified that he was left-handed; the autopsy determined that Kathy had most likely been strangled by a left-handed person. In 1999, after two previous mistrials, Steve was found financially liable for Kathy's death in the civil court. He was ordered to pay $200,000 to her family. He was also later convicted of repeatedly desecrating her grave. He is still living in Texas; he has yet to be charged criminally for her death. Tragically, their daughter, Monica, died in 2011 at the age of 28. Their daughter Erin remains alive today. In 2018, this case was profiled on Cold Justice. They interviewed dozens of witnesses in it. They also found a new witness who reported seeing Steve walking away from the ditch where Kathy's car was found on the night of her death. The witness did not come forward sooner because he was with his mistress at the time. Steve was also interviewed; he continued to deny any involvement in this case. Despite the new evidence, the D.A. did not feel that there was enough evidence to prosecute him. However, investigators are continuing to look into new leads and hope to present this case again. unsolvedmysteries.fandom.com/wiki/Kathy_Page

    Grieving Husband my @$$! That insufferable jerk absolutely did it! The fact that he had the audacity to blame an Italian man, by stereotyping him as "Mafia" told me that! This is insulting to all of us Italians who are hardworking people and come from honest, hardworking families, who have integrity, strong family values and a strong sense of honor. While on the other hand, Steve Page is vile, vulgar, with no honor, values or decency. I honestly cannot call him a man, because he doesn't have the characteristics of a man, he's merely a male, and a disgusting excuse for a homo sapien. I come from a large Italian family, raised in an Italian neighborhood in Chicago. Not one person I grew up knowing was Mafia, all were hardworking blue collar. Loving, kind and, above all, honorable.

    The only thing I didn't like about the segment was that it basically ignored, if not absolved, Kathy Page of cheating. If Steve in fact is innocent, then Kathy's death had something to do with that aspect. Who would take the time and/or hate both of them enough to murder one and frame the other?

    Brooke Baker seemed like someone on a mission. Her mother mentioned that she didn't mind calling people out or stepping on peoples toes. In the end it wasn't the reason she was murdered, but some people don't take kindly to that attitude and aren't afraid to act on it. I get the feeling that even without what happened, there was a chance she would at some point meet with violence.

    I wonder if Stella ever saw her mother again. It's a very sad story. It sounds like "Sunny" was put in a somewhat precarious situation. Stella was brought to the US probably against Sunny's wishes. She comes to America with her husband to try to work things out and be with her daughter. Did Sunny even speak any English? She must have felt very isolated. Maybe she felt she had no choice but to go back to Korea. Probably figured she could never get her child back there with her.

  • @susannahv7219

    @susannahv7219

    I think it is highly probable that a kind of mental health issue, likely trauma-based, is at play in at least some of these cases, however it is generally accepted in the psychiatric field that DID does not occur 'late onset'. It's a disorder that occurs when normal childhood development is disturbed by ongoing traumatic events, usually between ages 1-5. It is not uncommon, however, that many adults are not diagnosed until much later in life. But the people highlighted in the walk-in segment are not at all typical of people with DID, which is very disabling, certainly in the periods before longterm treatments can have any affect.

She fled to the other side of the US and talked bad about her to all of us and his kids. I never believed him and years later my aunt reunited with her adult children and learned the TRUE STORY. People with that level of traumatic injuries often have just minutes to live and brain death can occur within minutes of suffocation, so they need every form of help from whoever there is. Sometimes the greatest heroes are those who emerge out of nowhere and bring people back from the brink of death.

I think she was more into that and decided she didn't want to be tied down to a family. I imagine the hardest part about finding her is that she is Asian, and you can't just say I'm going to go there, and probably hard for a detective too. It was crazy she sent dresses all those years later, and I'm sure part of her misses her daughter, but overall I think she doesn't want to be found. Sad story.

    Happy to see they used the good old theme again (kinda, the version heard on the dvds anyway). Was this the first season on Lifetime?

    @@dencamp6685 Yes very true, but Season 9 was the first season on CBS so I assumed that perhaps this was the first season on Lifetime since there's a new intro and new song. Do you know how many season they lasted on CBS?

    if the District attorney seek the death penalty every time there is a murder that would make people think more than a million times before committing the crimes.

    NBC cancelled UM after 9 TV seasons. CBS picked it up for season 10, but spread out all episodes. The intro theme went back to the haunting music, but with new video images.

I really would love to know how the truck driver knew how to hold her head up or if it was just a lucky guess or something

    It seems pretty clear Kathy's husband killed her, but considering the police officer assigned to inform him of her death likely didn't know that yet, his doorstep bereavement speech needs a little work. "Sir, do you know where your wife is? She's deceased."

    Walk-ins... Member Being John Malkovich? Lol This was when UM got moved to CBS on Friday evening after the 6pm news and CBS ruined the show with the then new music and format. But Robert Stack did the best he could. Still good stories. You can notice starting in Season 10, Robert Stack's voice starting to falter and it continues to further weaken into the final episodes. This was the beginning of the end for UM.

    The crash story really makes you want to believe in angels, guardians, watchers...whatever name you want to call them; even if they are humans among us, it makes you wonder about the nature of our lives, are some humans really guardians or "angels" born into this world to be saviours?
