Skyler Tracy Slipknot is not anti religious, and they’ve spoke on that topic in a number of interviews. If you dig deeper into their lyrics, you’ll come to the realization that they’re lyrics are merely a depiction of how they interpret religion. They speak on the fact that they feel the community has given them a “anti religious” label. I’m also not saying they’re all God fearing saints. Corey Taylor himself said and I quote, “if there is a God, he is inside each and every one of us. And I don’t need a church or some sawdofh fucking heretical hypocrite telling me what the fuck to think about my God”. Not trying to knock on you brother. Just trying to provide you with a little insight.

The chorus has such a deep meaning for me. My mom passed away 2 years ago and in the manner of her passing I felt responsible , guilt and shame. I felt like I didn't deserve to live. Felt like I didn't have the right. Wasn't until earlier on this year when I finally let go of that guilt. When I heard the chorus for the first time I fell in love with it right away because Corey said exactly word for word on how I felt. God I love it when they speak how you feel word for word inside and out

I'm not here on any negative terms and I intend on keeping it that way, I am simply saying that as a survivor I can somewhat relate and understand the mindset of how one gets to that point in life. If people want to share their story then why not? It's their survivor story and if they feel that they can make a difference in at least one person's life by pretty much saying "hey I went through this and let me tell you as hard as things are now, you can and will make it out alive" then let them, nothing wrong with it. I guess you can look at it like a TED talk kind of thing, who knows maybe this guys' story will resonate with someone who is currently fighting this battle and music seems to be what helps them too and in the end when they survive it'll be worth it. All peace no hatred✌

I dont think it's about confronting. I get from lyrics and music it's more about how some "loving" and "beautiful" and "wholesome" things in the lyrics religion being the example are truly evil and deceitful and that the singer or listener depending how you view it will never sacrifice any of themself or "kill themselves" in any way to appease the view and sense of self righteousness felt by those who disagree with them and belittle and shame them for what they've done when you cant always see the big picture and how part of the blame for the "wrong" actions taken by the singer or listener are partially due to the fakeness and dishonesty of the person or persons this song is towards such as religion always claiming to love and help people while we live in a world most people turn a blind eye to the evil that happens out of public eye and when its brought to light how help is so hard to come by for some who have no one which turns them as mentioned to "wrong actions"
