Dave, I recently test drove a Lucid Air at the flagship store in Beverly Hills and also noticed the non-smoothness transition from standstill to moving forward. Tesla is definitely a smooth transition. Love your videos, thanks for your informative content.

lol he just uploaded a almost 2 hour video of his road trip to Maine with his daughter in the Lucid! Continuity Dave!
If a red 6 or 7 seat option for the X drops below the $80k threshold for the tax credit, it’s going to get real compelling. Especially for those of us, a few years out on Cybertruck.
Go for it, Dave - then I can experience it vicariously through you and Kathy. I really enjoy watching your videos. Thanks!
Looked at the X & we sat in both, 5 & 6 version. (Sat in that actual Ultra RED Plaid in Smithtown showroom!) 2nd row 6 seat configuration is so much more comfortable than 5/7 seat bench. Also we would want white or cream interior. Not paying 80K (before the Federal incentive) and NOT getting the car we want. If Elon moves the needle another 10K, count us in!

The only thing I hate about plaid is second row doesn’t fold, so annoying😢
You’re talking yourself into it Dave but the horn button thing and not having a turn signal stalk don’t seem to me to be great engineering per your original comment. The vehicle seems to be priced appropriately at this time, good luck with your new purchase and by the way the EGMP platform cars also start smoothly from a dead stop.
Get er done, Dave. We are thinking same thing. Except sell the Raptor, get the X. Keep our M Y P. Thanks for the reinforcement. Since you are excited about the move, so am I.
Charging network - yes. Road noise, comfort, FWD's, phantom braking - no. Been there, done that.

You do a great job with your videos Dave! I am glad you do drive and own many vehicles-saves me the trouble. Your comments and observations are spot on. Keep up the great work. Own a Model Y for 3 1/2 years- great car- lots of road trips. Just turned 65 and want something new for my birthday…yeah nice problem, but this may be my last car purchase. So I have been on the internet nonstop and testing out multiple vehicles. Really did not want another Tesla. I wanted something roomy that would travel smoothly and have decent range. I go on road trips about 6 times a year and have used nothing but Tesla superchargers, which have been without any incident. I am willing to try the other chargers….and definitely another car. So my choice boiled down to a Kia EV9. I could get a fully loaded GT for around $67k. I took it out for a test drive and liked the seats, driving characteristics (no Tesla, but a smoother ride than my Model y). Lots of room and some nice features including V2L and V2H (planned but not yet available). So many KZread videos describe a lot of good customer satisfaction with the EV9. A lot of buttons and many layers of software would be a challenge, but I am retired and I have some time for a challenge. Kia will apparently be adopting NACs soon, whatever that really means. So I was ready to purchase- I had test driven the EV9, and the week before, the Model X. The Model X design has been around for almost 10 years, but the recent refresh certainly is…refreshing and overall good. Kia is new to EVs but certainly not to cars. EV9 is “first generation”, but Kia has had 10+ years looking at Tesla with all of its failures and successes. So….my wife did not test drive the Model X, and since it is so easy to schedule a demo drive (SO damn easy-all accomplished over the internet-no sales people necessary to meet you at the vehicle. A Tesla rep will contact you however), I scheduled another demo and we went for a drive. We pulled up to the Tesla service station on a Sunday-no one there. My wife said that we would have to come back not realizing everything was ready through the app including a phone # to call if there were any issues. We found the demo car, walked up to it, pushed the door handle and the door popped open. My wife was immediately impressed especially when the door would close with a button. I sat in the driver seat, looked at the layout and view and realized how old the brand new Kia EV9 felt in comparison. Of course the Model X test drive was fabulous- amazing acceleration, driving dynamics, air suspension, etc. I realized instantly that regardless of charging issues, Elon Musk issues, comparable pricing, lack of color choices (my Model Y is gray-the base Model X which qualifies for the Fed tax rebate only come in gray…), etc, etc, the choice was obvious. Not…even…close. So I have ordered another gray Tesla.
Hey Dave, I enjoyed the video and I wanted to say two things first, I know you said a few videos ago I don’t remember exactly when about Lindenhurst. I grew up in Lindenhurst I lived south of Montauk Highway on linten Ave. Second The reason I’m bringing that up now is because I watching this video I see that you went to the Tesla showroom located in St James. I just happen to live just across the street just south of 347 with all the construction and I see you driving down Browns Road which I frequent a lot. Just wanted to say hi and welcome back to Long Island. I have visited that Tesla showroom a couple of times I don’t currently own an electric car but I’ll definitely look into a Tesla when I’m ready. Lucid was nice but too expensive. thank you for your informative videos!
Great informative video 👍
Ayeee nice! Kyle really loved the Lucid, but nothing beats Tesla man, haha 😄
I have a demo ride tomorrow morning after dropping off my model 3 for some wheel touch up and harness recall. Looking forward to it.
Really interesting keep them coming
You buy cars like you change your underwear. I can see you not keeping this for long. Maybe 6 months if not less? The Lucid looked gorgeous! I was not very surprised when you sold it! I hope you enjoy your Model X! Have a great day.
Good luck Dave!
Love the video
OK, who had Sept 19 in the "When Will Dave Sell His Lucid" pool? Will Dave get the Model X? With all the Tesla shilling Dave does on his channel, Tesla should just give him an X as a thank you...
We also bought the 2016 60D. We did unlock the top of the pack. Tempted by the new pricing, range, and charging speed, but we also don't drive often and like having no car payments.
Dave, I had a feeling you'd sell your Lucid the same day you got it. Anyone accustomed to Tesla's charging network and intuitive infotainment system can't part with it. If Kyle hadn't borrowed your car, you'd have sold it even sooner.
After test driving both, I went with the Model S long range because of the extra 60 miles in range Remember you will save an extra 1000 dollars for referrals on the S and X. I definitely want with the Ultra red, beautiful color. I went with the S because I wasn't sure about the long-term reliability of the mechanical doors.

@Superman-xr1oh No. I went with the distance and comfort of the 19" tires. The rolling speed is 2.8 to 2.9 seconds in 0 to 60, which is plenty fast for me. Just bought an X with standard wheel. So far, cars is flawless. One point however is that for me at 5’ 10 ish the wheel top pretty much covers of the “apply slight turning movement” autopilot/fsd advisory warning in the driver display. Yoke would uncover this completely. This came as a surprise I would not have expected.
13:50, yeah, you don't get that nauseous feeling because you're not a passenger!!! :)
I find hilarious how something that one pays over 80k for, later it is called as “free”. Yes.. free, as 80k wasn’t enough…
You said so many positive things, i think you are sold! I do have to say, however, that my recent test drive in a similar new Model X was very disappointing. At highway speeds there was a lot of wind and road noise, seemed like as much as in my old (2015) Model S. The ride was not as smooth as i had expected. In fact, it was quite unpleasant over bumps, very disappointing. Looking at other reports on TMC, I see that many other people, including new owners, are equally disappointed with the noise and the ride. I really wanted to like it, but it seemed little if any better in comfort than the Model Y, which is too rough-riding for my taste. Your title says why you sold the Lucid. i was startled to read that after watching a recent video where you praised the Lucid said how much you Loved it and how well the company has treated you. But knowing how often you change cars, i was not really too surprised. Have fun shopping (I know you will(, and good luck with whatever you get -- I see a red X in your future!
I can see you in an ultra-red X. The car is too big for me but, the car looks great. Are you going to get a hitch so you can tow?
I test drove a MXLR a couple of weeks ago just for the heck of it, and while it is certainly a nice car, I'm really not sure I'd take it over my MYP. Before anyone says I'm nuts, part of the reason could be due to the particular test car I drove. It had a lot more vibrations coming through the steering wheel compared to my MY. It also had some rattles coming from the back despite only having a couple hundred miles on it. The weather striping toward the front of the front doors were both off and kind of dangling on both front doors, which was odd. I noticed this because I saw a piece of it poking out when the door was closed. Some other reason I might take the MYP over this are that the car is quite a bit bigger so felt less nimble, and while I think the falcon wing doors are cool, I also think it would get old fairly quickly and when closed it's not the greatest from a passenger perspective, having less head room and no door pocket. Now, the new price is REALLY good, and there's no question it has a lot more luxury features over the MY, so it certainly have a lot going for it. If Dave goes ahead with buying the MXLR, he'd certainly be driving something that's really nice.
gotta have illuminated door sills and door handles if tesla can put them. happy shopping

Your doing a good job with the more than 10K you have spent in taxes and fees this year on registering all of these purchases you have bought and sold this year.
Hi Dave, we got our 2022 Model X back in December, so unfortunately we bought at the worst time in terms of price, but oh well. In our time of ownership which is about 9 months so far, there’s been a lot of good and a lot of bad. For the good, the car drives amazing, is extremely comfortable, good range and will definitely be a talking point if people see you open the falcon doors. Now for the bad. In the 9 months of ownership, we’ve had to have the car serviced a ridiculous amount of times. Most of them have just been squeaks and rattles that have been fixed by Tesla, most by mobile service. We have had 2 issues though which were impactful. The first, is we had to have pinch sensors replaced in the driver side falcon door due to it having an issue where maybe 50% of the time it started failing to close, it would come 90% and then stop thinking there is an obstacle. The 2nd thing which is going to be serviced tomorrow, is we have had issues with the air conditioning going out after the car runs for 10-15 mins or so, depending on how hot it is. Overall, especially with the price now, I would still highly recommend, none of our repairs have cost us anything of course and were all under warranty. Except for the steering wheel retrofit, we did buy that since the yoke was silly, round wheel is a lot better in my opinion.

@@hikintrailsndrinkinales Come on man .. You're a high use owner, you can't expect the internet FUD warriors to believe what you say ! 😉
Gotta be careful saying that $7500 tax credit comes off the price of the vehicle. It doesn't, not in any sense. It's a credit that applies to your taxes that you file at the beginning of the year, and if you don't have $7500 worth of tax liability, you don't get the full $7500. You do NOT automatically get a $7500 discount off the price of the vehicle if you buy the $79,995 version. Otherwise, really enjoyed the video. That Ultra Red with the cream 5-seat interior is my dream Model X. Can't believe how far the price has come down, but for me it's still just out of reach.

I ordered my Model X when they dropped the price the same day… $79,990 in the Ultra Red with the 5 seat version with Black interior too keep the price under $80,000. Got $1000 off from the loyalty which they changed to the $500 and the 3 months of FSD. Can’t wait for it to arrive…it weighs over 6000 lbs., so it qualifies for the Section 179 if you own a business as well.
When I see that windshield I see cataracts.
What do people buy if they don't want a Tesla due to it's leader say or just find the car boring not to their liking particulary in the US mainly thanks to EA due to their lack of reliability in CCS charging?
So glad you are looking at an X. I got mine in July and really love it. I got a great deal on the price I paid then, so I am not bummed out about the super great price of the car now. You pointed out all the features that make the X such a comfortable ride. One perk I got was three year of free supercharging,. The car charges really fast, so it is perfect on road trips. I am nearing the end of my free FSD, and am glad I got to test it. I will wait for FSD for Hardware 4 to catch up with FSD for Hardware 3 before I try it again. I hope you buy the car. Don't know what's up with CCS charger in US, but here in Europe (Norway) that only have been a tiny problem on very remote changers where it takes some time to get repair personnel on site. And mostly only 50kW chargers, only once I experienced a broken 150kW charge. Can this be the government's money to support new chargers ? Obviously the charging network then is interested in putting up new charging sites to get that money and repair then comes second. Since Tesla here also uses CCS open to all cars most places I think at least here in Norway we have way too high charging capacity along the most used roads with only around 22% EVs (the rest diesel/gas)
The X looks best in red!

I believe to expand its market share Tesla needs to tap in other market segments like the segment of Chevrolet Bolt EUV touted by Volvo EX30 on one hand, and large practical boxy SUVs like Rivian R1S, which Kia EV9 is tryinng to run by storm. In North America the pickup truck promised a while ago is overdue. Launching of a hot hatch Tesla Model 2 is still on the level of rumors. Most drivers in North America dismiss EVs like a nightmare and vow to stick to ICE as long as they can. If we look into what they drive daily then ideally in a 2 person household we might notice a larger vehicle like a minivan or better a full sized SUV for long trips and 2 more cars for commute which in suburban environment might be small hatchbacks. There is no way Tesla can penetrate those markets if it does not offer competing vehicles. I presume 2 hottest vehicles in those markets will be abovenamed Volvo and Kia EV9. Yet the market of pickup trucks is waiting to get more contestants. For the latter I believe Tesla wants a 800 V architecture to enter in full swing into the market share. For now I am in the camp of people not finding any use of jellybean cars offered by Tesla for now. A hot station wagon offered by NIO if proposed by Tesla might conquer me immediately.
there is stuff in the internet about europe having a new model 3 with T in the vin. most think its for a performance version of highland. so i think its coming eventually
I just know you bought one. Nice car. When i was at the Tesla showroom i thought the X was the best of the models. You are my favorite boomer.
Why have a model 3 and X? Do you really need 3 Teslas for two people?
Welcome back to the "family!"
I test drove a Model X the other day to compare it to my Audi e-tron. The model X doesn't drive as smooth as my e-tron, which I didn't expect, nothing really beats how a German vehicle rides. Even in comfort mode in the X I still felt bumps I didn't feel in the Audi. There were some things I did like about the X, like the rear doors, made it so easy to get the car seat in and out compared to traditional rear doors. Really, the only reason I looked at the X was for the added range and of course the Supercharger network, although I have not really had any bad luck with DC fast charging on my road trips with the Audi (and the charging curve is way better in the Audi). Can't have everything I guess.
I knew you would.sell the lucid, look at the video, with Kathy driving to Florida, 1st trip, and said you would sell it.
Why is no one mentioning how bad the vision sensors are? Took delivery of my model x and as soon as I took it home, told me to stop with 2+ feet in my garage. Took to service and now doesn’t tell me to stop 10 inches away. Now they are telling me it’s a software issue and nothing can be done. And the door only opening a few inches is super annoying. 91k otd and these issues is absurd. My model s with ultra sonic sensors is soooo easy to park.
That was a fast sale haha
my thing is replacing that windshield!!
The model X is awesome
I could never get rid of my Ioniq 5 because of unreliable chargers and switch to a Tesla because here in western Oklahoma where I live, there is only ONE Tesla Supercharger location, while there are 9 CCD DC Fast Charging locations in the same area of the state. Also, the Supercharger site is 50 miles away. There are only 5 Supercharger sites in the entire state of Oklahoma, all located on I-40 and I-35, none on I-44, none at all on US or State highways anywhere in the state. So, unless you are an Interstate-only driver, there is no reason to get a Tesla if you live elsewhere. Tesla has not announced any new Supercharger sites in the state in the next few years, so nothing will change.
X marks the spot. Except you have a Bailey, not a Spot. The X just has too many things that can go wrong for my taste. I Love my 2023 Y LR, and expect to drive it forever -- the Y's simplicity, compared to the X's wins for me, even were the X and Y about the same price. BUT, I can't say that the X doesn't have a lot of things going for it, and since you seem to always be trading in for new cars or else loaning your cars to your progeny, I think it sounds like the absolute right car for you. Go for it, Dave!
Dave, I had a feeling you were dissatisfied with the Lucid as a road tripper. Will you tell us how you sold the Lucid, and what the deal was? I bet you made money on it. One other question, can you use your 3rd $7500 credit in one year?

you have a model 3, no?, why another one?
Dave can you talk about the cost of insuring a Tesla vs a non EV. HUGE premium driving an EV Tesla. Love to hear your opinion on this topic

I had Durango and sold it recently. Bought MYP. Same premium for me. No increase. Not sure if that’s good comparison.

Depends on where you are and what you drove before. Mine went down after switching to Tesla 🤷♂️

My model 3 is not bad to insure. I did switch companies because American Family was way too high. Shop around. Obviously an 80K car that goes 0-60 in 3 seconds is probably not going to be cheap no matter what.
Don’t buy a X. Rent or borrow cars and have driving interviews with the people and owners. New American storytellers
Dave test drive a 2023 Tesla Model S and your opinion on it
I am considering Model S. With this new price is closer to my reach.

@@laloajuria4678 Who said that if you can't pay cash you can't afford it. That's the Poorman mentality. It sounds better if you can get one of your passive incomes to pay for it. That's how you do it
😘 Love your videos ! Professional and very informative.
I love my Y, but sure would like an X

Dave, you’ll go from gushing about the car to complaining about it almost immediately after taking delivery. Mark my words.

This is how he justifies the purchases. It's an obsession. The car he's selling is always crap or has issues and the new one doesn't until a few months later where he rinses and repeats.
