"Organs are too graphic" *Corpse explosion*

Corpse explosion is cartoonish. I don't think it gives the same vibe as seeing detached organs laying on the ground.

@@wizagab they didn't have any problems with the ears that drop after pk or khalim's organs required for act 3.

@@LamGorYun I played as a child and found the ears comical. Now that I'm an adult, I realize it's just realistic

We got the organs later though, for the Khalim's Will quest.

5:18 the crosses are missing because of its resolution. If you play diablo 2 in 640x480 today, it will also hide them and only show them on level ups.

Very enjoyable and informative video. I was one of a thousand Battlenet betta testers. They gave us act 1 and told us to play at certain times to stress test the servers. I do not remember seeing the body parts so it was nice to see the different ideas that the developers had at the time. Thank you for sharing this information with us.

Love seeing this type of video. I appreciate your efforts in researching the information needed to create videos like this.

And also if you were in the pvp scene, you'd occasionally see a hacker who had that skill.

The skill and stat crosses wouldn't have been there anyway. They weren't on the lower bar until they upped the resolution. Before that they would just pop up on screen when you leveled up

Wasn't weapon switch introduced in LOD? Not too suprising it wasn't in beta, a very nice feature though.

Correct weapon switch wasn't in the game until the LoD expansion.

Yes. Before LOD you only had 1 weapon.

Nice feature? That's an understatement. Completely changed my gameplay style. That's one of the reasons I consider LOD one of the best expansions ever. Just my opinion.

@THE TRUTH IS REAL RADIO TELEVISION you mean rare? all the best items were rares. -40% requirements 800+ def Ornate plates... -40% req was also necessary on Swords if you wanted to use them. Most barbs used rare Lances though, because they didn't have very high strength requirements. The only classes that used uniques were sorc and nec.

Thank you for the video! I was doing my own research of Diablo 2 history, so I knew they wanted to put organs drop into the game. But I have never seen this screenshot, it kinda shows the feature in action. Every piece of Diablo history is GOLDEN. Keep up the great work!

The attribute icons in the control panel are only visible in the higher resolution (800x600) which wasn't added until the release of the expansion.

You rock-loved this video. It's crazy to think of so many differences and how the game could have been altered yet what was released was and still is loved by so many.

On our D2 mod called Hell Unleashed we have some things we have things from both D1 and D2 that were scrapped from those original games. Not sure why some of this was removed, but we are glad to use it.

WEAPON switch(2 slots ''w'') was released in Lod 2001. all pre-lod doesnt have switch weapons. even today, in d2calssic.

I've seen many of these in Chaos Empire mod, it's nice to see how much effort they put into this game even though some stuff didn't show up on the final version (btw the herb in this mod makes you run like crazy as it should :D)

also let me note even to this day the original diablo 2 has no switch item button that was only released with lord of destruction

The weapon switch was added in LoD so i t has no place in the list of differences between the alpha/beta screenshots and the shipped game.

That is exactly what is wrong with trying to make a D3 or D4.. or remake of D2.. everyone wants to add color and glowing etc.. If they ditch that, they'll be going in the right direction.

You can find these icons and sprites now used in the Median XL mod for unique charms, mystic dyes (that recolour your items) and other stuff.

I don't got any time to play D2 and i don't enjoy most of the videos on youtube which thematise D2, but i really appreciate this kind of vids. Nice work.

Amazing video

You could get different colored weapons based upon which green you used in a socketed weapon. If you used multiple chippen emeralds your weapon would have a green hue and deal poison damage.

the kick skill is still in the database in diablo ini you can add it back to the game in single player/ open bnet using an editor the kick skill can be retrieved for any class

Nice! Knew some of this. Jist got into Median xl and I'm loving it. I'm like level 50 or so and my stash inventory is full of gems and jewels and all sorts of things and I have no idea what I'm doing and it feels GREAT! Proof imho that Diablo 2 and the fans and mod creators are awesome and always will be.

d2 is still my best game ever

i still have my 1.0 version i bought in 1999 in the bigass multi disc case. i played for a couple hours recently and its like caveman d2 compared to the current versions. i cant for the life of me get on battlenet though. i have the l.o.d. stuff and have tried everything i can think of. anyone know what my issue is? i bought my laptop for d2 almost specifically, so its disappointing that i can only single player it after being a dedicated player and finally having the stuff to play and whatnot. thanks everyone. and thank you xtimus for making videos for us nerds who cant stand not having d2 in their life

MOO SNUCKLE if your on 1.0 version you won’t be able to log on to bnet because they’re running 1.14d. Maybe I’m missing the question? Is it trying to update the game when u attempt to connect to bent or what. Not to sure though i have the digital version and it lets me log on after updating bnet

@@michaelmcintyre5016 oh nah lol i have the updates up to 1.14, but when i click the battlenet tab, it says connecting to. fastest server, then it says unable to connect to battlenet, if using a modem i need to connect to my internet service provider, and gives me a link for an error msg. imma try the link real quick because i havent messed with it in a while and see what i can get. if im missing somethin, let me know. i appreciate your response

MOO SNUCKLE no problem man just trying to get a fellow d2 player back up and running. Sounds like ur on the path to figuring out. Only other thing I can think of is trying windows compatibility mode running service pack 2 and running as administator? Maybe that’s locking you out from finding a server and connecting properly I know with my computer I always have to run as admin so it bypasses my firewall and actually runs correctly. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help hope u get it running! I’ve been playing d2 for too damn long admittedly lol. Take it easy!

Seen you comment on Rhykkers stuff. Do you think blizz is remastering d2 as well? Do you think with the "dark and gritty" new game they would add things like body parts?

I think they are remastering it, yes but I don't think it will live up to what Diablo 2 was and many years after people will still be modding and playing the original.

This just shows how passionate they are with their craft.

The color pitch wasnt actually removed how it shows here, well the inventory graphics were changed, but you can still get this in game effect or an even stronger effect by modifying a certain column in items.txt/items.bin... i believe the numbers range from 1-9? i havent made this modification in many years, but i used to toy with it back in my modding days.

Im rewatching these getting hype for the remake!

Hi, it's a bit late but I've heard somewhere that very early on, the Amazon had a different concept, bigger and more savage (a bit like the female barbarian in D3). Has someone heard of this or have any links to concept art?

In the 640x480 resolution the skill and stat buttons weren't in the bottom bar they were above and disappeared when you opened a menu on that side 5:17

Hey Xtimus(and people of the comment section). I always deemed diablo 2 epic and try and play it from time to time :D But this time around im doing an Assassin with points in claw mastery(11 i think) and burst of speed(5 i think) as well as lastly adding a point in tiger strike. So far im about to go for the damed cube. i got around 40 str and dex and 60? vit. before i always got my shit pushed in by andariel and these scarabs that pump you full of charget bolt, but now i had 75% poison lenght reduction and currently run around with 60 lighning resist(from a shield). So one variant is to grind away with 0 def and level traps, to try and quickly get to ?the good stuff? and or simply using more consumables to keep yourself alive and the other is to spend gold and early attributes on equipment so you can ?fight in the thick of it for longer? Which one would you recomend? I personally hate it when i cannot cast my spells early on so i would put point into energy like a noob. Also i hate it when i try 50 times to git a cold or lightning enchanted boss/mob group and cannot only to be hit 5 times and die.

I remember in d2 classic the first year I had a red low glowing blood looking leach sword i think it was 141 dmg with mid % to life leaach, the uniques at that time were not as good as rares

Alot of those differences are just from the lower resolution. Also the game didnt have weapon switch and you couldnt have 2 weapons untill lod.

This game was trying to be Minecraft before Minecraft. Crazy to see such creativity this early.

I just bought Diablo 2 + LoD just last week and then this video came out. Thought this video would be 5-10 years old but so surprised that it was just a few days ago. Haha. Someone misses the game same as me, I see.

Weapon switch was not implemented until LoD, not in classic.

Indestructible items can still be repaired.

a little about the kick. using a hack called redvex there was a mode the let you use kick and also there was a skill to disconnect from the room at any time (doing so dose not show your account name) the kick it self used in pk is alot like mindblast knocking player back out of screen, cost no mana, and had no sound but do to how pk server desinck it was hard to pinpoint the player when you stoped kicking. but they will be stuck once they hit a wall. there is kick stil in the game but only is used to kick open pots or barrels.

diablo 2 will be released for for www.gog.com and like diablo 1 will have the option for batter resolution thus also some batter graphics

Wish they would have kept the organs.
