I swear I've heard two other popular songs similar to "Edge of seventeen". I can't recall the names rn. But among the two songs, one has this exact music at 0:44 in its intro, and the 2nd one starts with the music at 0:44 followed by 3/4 drum/cymbals beats. If anyone knows what songs I'm talking about, please let me know. I'll edit this comment if I recall any of the names. Edit: I recalled the names of both the songs after waking up this morning. The 2 songs are "Bootylicious" by Destiny's Child and "I was made for lovin' you" by Kiss. Also, it seems Stevie is the one who copied the music from Kiss' song as "I was made for lovin' you" came out before "Edge of Seventeen".

I wonder if a reason for this (when a song isn't sampled or purposely referenced) is when a songwriter makes a beat/melody and they think they came up with something original, But it's actually their brain offering up a melody that it heard in passing Like from someone's car radio that's playing a 2000s song and that sound has been subconsciously stored in their head Or a song listened to in childhood that they forgot about I wonder if that's the case for the Scooby-Doo and You're my only shorty one (I think thats the song title)
