That why a lot of eastern European countries was flooding Ukraine with weapons. Even Turkey and Israel were helping covertly. Even now Turkey has openly said they don't want Ukraine to go back to Russia. So this has been a long time brewing.

Reporter goes into a hot zone and leaves his ballistic helmet off. Great idea because once you get a sniper induced headache you wont have to worry about much else.

Helmets do nothing against a 7.62x54. The gear given to the reporter would only protect against fragmentation and small caliber like pistol rounds.

This is what a modern war looks like when they can't use aircraft because they are easily shot down. When they can't bring artillery close because it is visible and it becomes easy to destroy it with missiles.
