Girl, the day I found out that I did not have to use conditioner and a deep conditioner, my jaw dropped!!!! I was so happy because I was one less step I had to do, lol but I will say I love curly cuts for the SHAPE of my hair. I noticed that my hair started looking wonky and just stringy and all over the place. Someone suggested that I get a curly cut and when I did everything changed. I loved the shape of my hair and it gave me so much volume. However, for getting rid of split ends I get my hair blown out!!!! As far as protective styles, braids, faux locs etc If I take care of my hair while I'm wearing the style then it's all good. But I remember back in the day when I would wear braids for weeks and weeks and didn't care about my hair. It definitely grew, but my ends were trash. This time around I've learned my lesson and I make sure that I care for my hair underneath the braids by keeping them moisturized and I even wash in between my braids so that my scalp is clean. That's when my hair grows and retains length. Loved your video!

Girl! Very good points you made. Makes sense that curly cuts are more beneficial for shape when you mostly wear your curls but not so much for the split ends. And maybe I need to step my game up when I have in a protective style 🤔 I have never washed my hair with braids in

Lol I actually like hair typing because it helps narrow down which tutorial to watch because my hair absolutely will not react like looser curls cuz I’m 4c and I want to narrow down my search if I wanna search for ‘flexi rod set’

Lol, I get that. It won’t react the same but doesn’t mean it won’t look good! 😄

@@Jaheisha_ nahhh it ain’t looking good girl!😅 the only times they have worked was when I saw it on a 4b/c hair. Back in the day I also thought it didn’t matter and it would still look good, but time and time again that it wouldn’t come out like how I saw in the 3b-4a videos it would just crush my soul and it felt like my hair wasn’t good for anything except being hidden in a braid. But now years later I mostly follow 4b/c hair girlies that I love the styles they do and I know more often than not if I do it right, my hair may come out similar to theirs AND be cute I’ve now worn my hair just as itself with no added hair or anything for the past 5 months straight, and I can’t even think of going back, I now love my hair, but I needed help getting there from people that had textures like mine. Now I’m not saying it’s for everyone because I can understand the cons in the typing system, but the typing system has helped me embrase my hair in all that it is, nothing added😊.

That’s awesome! Yes, there’s always pros and cons to everything but the most important thing is for everyone to do what works for them. There’s no single answer. Thanks for sharing!

Love this video! But quick question. I think hair typing to an extent is kind of important because you’re definitely not gonna use the same products for a type 2 that you would use for a type 4 because type 4 is more course curly/coily. A type 2 or 3a may use lighter products compared to a type 4 who probably wouldnt. 🤔

Thanks! Well… yes and no. I’ve seen type 2 hair use some of the same products as kinkier hair types. Ex. Eco styler, Mielle rosemary oil. But for the most part, no we’re not using the same products because our hair has different needs. And I agree it’s helpful to a certain extent but I also see it being weaponized and used in a way that praises looser curl types but diminishes kinkier/courser hair.

@@Jaheisha_ yes I definitely agree that people are weaponizing it and using it the wrong way !
