I love this subject! I don’t have the words to express how I feel about Jessie’s comment “ I don’t think I‘ve heard you say that before. “ The only words I can think of are appreciation and love. Shawna and Jessie, thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge and setting up this platform!!!!!! ❤❤❤

Jessie thank you for sharing the things that you did that you are not proud of. That helps me as I've allowed "trainers" to do things that I wish I never allowed. It confirms that R+ is much better for the horse and our relationship with them.

My sister and I had the same rearing horse! We were told to fill a bag with warm water, bash him between the ears with it when he reared! Big sister did, he went left, she went right. But he never went up again....

Hi Shawna & Jessie, great first chat and thanks so much for the new website for all of us! What do you think about allowing the lead to be wrapped around something that would allow the lead to slide rather than have something that would break? I have used this method of tying for about 20 years and not had a horse pull the lead all the way loose, the slide allows them to feel freedom to move and they don't feel anything solid to pull against. Even horses that come to me that have a history of pulling back seem to be calmed by being tied this way. Any thoughts on this?

As far as the part of the conversation about tying. Why tie if you're going to allow a Breakaway? Why not just teach ground tying. I don't use cross ties, when I tie I use a blocker tie ring with a 15 foot rope incase of pullback .then they never get the release that teaches them to pull back.

What are the situations where you say no to a horse, set standards or boundaries? I have a 5 year old mustang who lacks confidence and m trying to interest him in trailer loading. His preference would be to depend on my older, confident mustang.
