Hey so I don’t think the methods for any of the unlocking factions videos for Barbarian invasion work anymore as I tried the Slav, Romano, and Ostro ones and now when I click on a faction (any faction) it just takes me to the Home Screen so something is a little broken/glitched.

slavs are from the word "slovene", which means "people of the word", people who speak their language.

I love that there are new videos being made about how to mod this old game!

They have a decent (if unspectacular) range of troops! I wish they had a more unique unit but they have horse archers. That is the main thing!

The slavs are essentially the final lap charge in mario kart. Timed to perfection and half of Europe is the reward (not sure the second part fits both narratives).

It seems to be an in joke from the devs. I get the impression it represents the mindset of the faction. For example, On Medieval II Teutons expansion, Norway are classed as a turtle because they are not aggressive so to allow the Kalmar Union trigger to be more likely.

AI descriptions, probably from the older titles? mao prefers massing light infantry and stalin prefers massing heavy infantry etc.. Not sure about the other ones.

You know they should have names like Mstivoy, Mieshko, Ivan, Vladimir and temples of Svarog, Perun and Mokosh. I have to watch Atilla TW, cause I've heard they fkd some details up. I am intrested in archaeology and ethnology, so thats why I am so upset.

Some factions are certainly more accurate than others. I'm pretty sure Ivan is in there but otherwise those names are strangely absent. As for the Gods, I suppose they have to pick 3 to represent the pantheon of Slavic gods... Svarog is in the game but then they went for Matka and Dzarowit as the other two. I suppose some always have to miss out. I haven't played much Atilla myself, but I can only assume they fleshed it more out that time around. They tend to veer closer to history in their historical titles nowerdays.

Hey man great video! I always wanted to play as romano British and slavs! Is it possible to make them both spawn as hordes like the huns and vandals though? Maybe it'd be easier than editing cities and family members. They should have predetermined characters right? Either way, great work. I'll try to do this too.

I tried to use Brinno from rebel faction were Locus Barbaricum located. But the game crash when i select and start the game with slavic faction.

That is a very weird message indeed! When exactly does it come up? When you launch the game or as it crashes when you begin the campaign?

I did everything as shown in the video, it goes well as far as I select Slavs click on button which should throw me into the camapaign- but it throws me to the menu. I cant even start any other campaigns, but I can continue the loaded game at least. I tried to edit everything in descr_strat on beggining, but its same, campaign cant be started... If you have any ideas how to solve this, please help me, thx

It's always important to keep an original copy of the file to simply fix the game if a problem occurs. I change mine back with back-up copies frequently. If you haven't got a copy then a uninstall/reinstall may be needed.

As for the the problem, the problem you describe is typically a small issue in the coding, but as you say it does stop any new campaign from running. Chances are that it is simply a missing line or space somewhere in the coding - it is very fiddly with small details like that. It's hard to know exactly without seeing the changes you made. Have a scan through, make sure your spacing at settlements, characters and coordinates is solid (they are common errors) and with luck you may find the small something that has gone wrong. Good Luck!

I think it's just a silly tag line from the developers to represent the general approach of that faction. Not sure it has any real meaning other than that. Can be amusing reading though!

@@ToNerdistoHumanTNH you don't know where in the files i find the kind of playing of the AI (primary targets/fractions/cities) and how to change them? i think hanging the the diplomacy-stats is a option, but does it change the primary targets effectivly?

I did everything that was shown in the video, but when i start the game for Slavs, the game shuts itself down. Could you help me please?

This usually suggests a tiny error in descr_strat. Probably a rogue space or comma. Hope you've got it to work!

Could I ask you to download these files? Please

short version there is modding advice at Rome Total War Heaven just go to the factions data and move every nation from unplayble to playable via copy and paste , which has a starting region watch out for tabs no spacebar this way you can play factions which are unlockable

Slavs have no town and are emergent. It's not as simple as them just being moved to playable. Hence the video!

oh yeah i forgot , dont make rebels playable , or senate or emergments but all others liek Spain and Dacia scythia in RTW is fine

I'm doing a video on names very soon! But basically, any names you put in the descr_strat file have to also be in the names file. That file is in data folder then in the 'text' subfolder. If you add the names you want in the file with correct formatting it'll work!

I changed names to Slavic in "descr_strat", then with 'find' & 'replace' option changed each one (male & female) in "descr_names", "descr_names_lookup" and stupid game won't start! Don't know what to do... maybe it can't be done or maybe you'll figure it out somehow...* *I can send you those ancient Slavic names so you don't have to waste time on research...*

@@IvicaArmanas Those two files are more for reference, but the file you need to change is in another folder. When in the 'data' folder, if you go into the 'text' subfolder and go inside there, you'll find a file simply called 'names.txt'. If you put your new names in there then it should work assuming the formatting is all good :)
