Unlocking the New Testament Part 12 - 1 & 2 Corinthians 2
David Pawson points out that Corinth was a Greek city & the ancient Greeks separated the spiritual from the physical. The West has taken that & it has infiltrated the Church. Hebrew thinking is quite different, and the Corinthians needed to be helped to understand God’s way of looking at things. Greeks thought of the body 3 ways: they indulged them because they thought it wouldn’t affect their soul, they ignored them and tried to live a life free from physical desires, or idolised them and made statues of the perfect body. Paul had to say: Don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit? And what you do with your body will affect your soul. What you do with your body is part of your spirituality. David discusses the various forms of love - sexual, social and sacrificial. The cross was too bodily for the Greeks, and when you get away from the cross you start dividing over other things. Second Corinthians is particularly for leaders. There were leaders who were putting Paul down to raise themselves. The acid test of a man’s ministry is not his academic qualifications or his training but the kind of people he produces. Though tender with the people, Paul is tough with those who threaten them.
David also has a book on this series find out more here: www.davidpawson.co.uk/search/?mediaID=1920

Wow! "Always beware of a leader who criticizes his predecessors." "Always beware of someone who raises himself up by putting others down". Great teaching and wisdom.
I am eternally indebted to you Mr. Pawson for this series. From Genesis to now, and still more to come - thank you Mr. Pawson. I know you are with God now, and I look so forward to meeting you some day. You are walking me through God's word so that I may understand Him better, and myself - and how to love (agape) others.

Wonderful teaching! Truly anointed man of God! I feel like I know the books of 1&2 Corinthians inside out before even reading them. All praise and thanks to Yah for the servant he skillfully crafted! Amen.
I enjoy your teaching. It makes me love Abba Word more and understand It. Thank you.
Man, he is a must listen teacher.
Praise be to God.
This is one of the best Bible teachings ever given. The Greeks rarely used the word agape because it was so rare. A pity that it is also so rare in most Churches let alone the world. It is the single key to unlock the meaning of the Bible.
What an invaluable resource these videos continue to be
wow. praise the Lord. These are wonderful teachings !!!
The fact that care is closer to agape than love is why KJV correctly translates agape as charity.
LOVE the teaching.
Dear editor, when he talks about love, you are showing the wrong slide most of the time
So enlightment! Praise God
This is realy good Id just like to tell you editor or teck guys to be careful to make shure they are showing what you are currently talking about. Thank you verry much for this sermon sir.

Hi thank you 🙏- we are aware of the one incorrect banner but we took decison to leave it - to replace the video with a correct one would cause us to lose all the KZread viewing data - and the existing viewing data ranks this video high in KZread searches 🙏
When mr pawson is describing the different loves, the wrong screen is displayed. It always displays the outline.

I think charity is a better translation than love in Paul's discourse on charity because it better matches the Greek's division of love into agape.
1:51 hebrew thinking: soul is a breathing body. amen. genesis 2:7.
Thank you.
17:47 the other aspect of the lord's supper that is not emphasized is that it is to remind believers that death of our lord sealed the covenant between god and believer. that is very serious thing and requires believers to consider that the relationship is covenantal. just as marriage not viewed as a covenant makes it easy to end it in divorce, believers who are not conscious of this covenantal relationship can treat it with such casuality and back slide and finally lose the battle to remain faithful till death. jesus declared that only overcomers, those who remain faithful till death can enter into his kingdom.
Good
11:37 agape love note for later
Thank you for uploading Pawson's teaching. I notice that 8:51 of the video is an inaccurate screen. It should be "love".

HI Thank you for pointing this out - the issue we have is that if we replace this video with one that is corrected we lose the 43k viewings and hence the search rankings - so we have decided to leave the slide in as its not critical - but well spotted !

Dr pawson mention tongue, does he encourage or discouraged. Do explain?
@DavidPawsonMinistry
Жыл бұрын
HI you would need to give the context to this comment. please advise the timing in the video and Im happy to comment further The Book of James refers to the tongue literally as your tongue which can causing you to say the wrong thing Other books the NT use the word tongue - depending on version to mean languages - French/German/Mandarin, English are all tones spoken in their respective countries If you are referring to Paul 1 Cor 14:5. " I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy." David did speak in other languages and encouraged others to also do so, but at the right time and in an orderly respecting way, and, if in public, then with someone who can translate

2:43 it is the body that is mortal and have to be transformed into a spirit body like jesus has. the soul is immortal. it is separated from the body at death. that is why sheol is referred to as the place of disembodied spirits; that is why it is written those who were thrown into the lake of fire have no rest day and night. and yet, yes, the body is part of who we are as that is how the the rich man recognized abraham, the apostles recognized moses and elijah.
7:20 Jesus was celibate as was St John the Baptist.
