I believe you are right about the weak wifi in the MLM, I found the same thing. Note, when you lost 20dB across your wall, it's not a 20% drop, it's actually a 100x drop in power (dB is logarithmic). Also, when you see that the MLM is sending a weak wifi signal, it also virtually guarantees it's reception is weak because the antenna it uses to transmit is the same as the one it receives with. I suspect there's some metal in the unit which is compromising that antenna's performance.

I seem to be one of the lucky ones that doesn’t have many connection issues. My internet router is in my garage approx 15ft from the mlm2pro. I used to use wifi network mode, but have now switched to direct connect as I screen mirror via USB. Good video Ben as I think connection is a major challenge for many. I guess the key takeaway is to make sure you’re getting as strong a signal as possible, which may mean adding an extender if need be…

This is a great insight and it makes a lot of sense. Wi-Fi mesh out to my garage was a disaster but having a 20 meter Ethernet cable from my home hub out to a second router configured as an extender has given my mlm2 so much more stability..I chose in the admin setting to only use the 2.4 hrz and deactivated the 5 hrz channel completely..having reviewed your video I’m now thinking I should have used the 5 instead..I currently have my iPad on a stand at head height next to my tv (which is my sim screen) at about 8 feet from my mlm2..as I said it is very stable at the moment with the odd missed shot or disconnect these seem quite rare but I guess I should use the mlm2 stand to see if it can be made even more stable..thanks for all the advice and insights..your channel is awesome for our community

Great clip! Thanks for all the time you dedicated to this. I've moved to a direct connection ever since one of your last videos. I guess I need a USB extension to locate my tablet even closer to my MLM2Pro.

Really good video, thanks for sharing. Out of interest have you tested with the MLM2 Pro plugged in to power vs battery to see if the single improves? they might reduce power output to wifi device whilst on battery power?

Thank you! I have had the same problem. Going to implement corrective actions to improve signal strength and eliminate interference. Any chance you can work on connectivity to android unit? Wanting to connect with usb-c to Motorola phone. Working to get to "PLAY GOLF" mode. Thanks for all the videos. (Any chance you would consult?)

Great video, thanks. It's crazy how I have my wifi router 40 feet away and yet it is still the most stable connection. I do plan to go direct like you but until it gives me a head ache I'll keep it set up to go through my wifi network.

I suspect routers antennas have ability to transmit and receive as well as amplify both and therefore affect these scenarios. My WiFi mesh system is admittedly on the aged side and I know newer routers have more ability and sensitivity to the signals they can pick up and amplify. But I thought this was a good visual and allowed people to look at their scenarios/setups differently. It helped in my specific case. Thank you again for the comment 🙂

Agree. The Rapsodo MLM2 is the only device that has connection issues out of all of my devices…..definitely feels like the WiFi radio is weak. However the recent firmware updates have definitely helped.
