I can relate. I currently own the following lens lineup (I’ve owned a few others that I’ve sold since): Sony 14mm f1.8 GM Sony 24mm f1.4 GM Sony 35mm f1.8 GM Sigma 85mm f1.4 DG DN Sony 24-70mm f2.8 GM II Sony 70-200mm f2.8 GM II I mainly use either the 85mm and compliment it with the 24mm or 35mm for client work. But for personal trips and whatnot, I use the 14mm, 24-70, and 70-200. Those are the ones I brought to a recent trip to Sedona. My favorite are lenses are the 85mm and the 14mm, though. I really wish Sony can drop the 85mm GM II already, though. I’ll likely keep the Sigma, but even if I don’t, the 85mm is my bread and butter, and I’ve got to have the best of the best. 😄🤭

That’s great collection of lenses. Glad to hear that you can relate. Also, Sedona is a great place to shoot. I live in the Phoenix area, so I’ve been fortunate to go to Sedona often. Beautiful.

Agreed the 24-70 f2.8 GM II would be my first choice but that price ouch!!...so I went with the 20-70 f4 G. And love having the extra 4mm on the wide end. Allows me to leave my 16-35 at home many times.

That sounds like a great option. I need to check that lens out. Thanks for the tip.

Check; 24mm, 35mm, 50mm 1.4 GMs and just picked up the 24 to 70mm GM 2.8 for my Alpha One… now I eat Ramen noodles 🍜 for several months! 🤑 but this makes me feel better! Also picked up Samyang for 85mm and 135mm to safe $$$ on lenses that will use… the least. Holding off on 16mm to 24mm for the Sony $5K Cine lens when I feel safe in getting an FX3 for two camera video shoots! True, I can’t imagine how a 3rd party lens will have the schematics to compete with Sony lenses to take best advantage of their high end camera tech! That seems to be consistent with the Gerald Undone videos and other context guys who get deep into the specs & tests… though Samyang and Sigma are close (if not better in fringe aspects) for a fraction of the cost!

I'm currently considering a 40 mm lens to be my first prime.. hoping that it would be a nice balance between 35 & 50 mm🤞 Either the Sony 40mm f/2.5 G or the Zeiss Batis 40mm f/2.

Fellow lens hoarder over here as well 🤣 Solid choices. Despite their shortcomings, I tend to prefer Sigma because of their more filmic "look". Sony lenses are just too sharp for my taste. I don't mind a little lens breathing. I've also recently discovered Gyroflow which works amazingly well as long as you turn all stabilization off.

I can respect your choice. I’ll have to try Gyroflow. Sounds interesting. Thanks for sharing your experience.
