One memory of when I first started learning the guitar, was attempting to learn “Folsom Prison Blues” by Johnny Cash. I remember how tricky the strum pattern was and how long it took me to finally get it down. Years later, and after teaching Johnny Cash tunes to my private lesson students over time, I’ve found new ways to teach it, and make things easier while also dissecting exactly what it was that he was doing to create the iconic rhythm to his classic songs!
