I'd like to add that regardless of who you want to use on your army (seriously, everyone but Vander is viable in this game), reclassing into a Base Class like Mage or Cavalry is a huge waste of time. Second Seals in this game allow you to reclass into Advanced Classes from other Advanced Classes, so you can get Anna to Level 10 Axe Fighter, promote to either Berserker or Warrior, then immediately reclass into Sage, or Mage Knight, or whatever you'd prefer. This is preferable because Advanced Classes have better Growths, and you want as many Levels as possible with those improved Growths so you can get better Stats. This game also keeps your internal Level after promoting, so you won't gain any less Exp for promoting early. And lastly, this game has infinite leveling like Awakening, so you won't lose out on levels of growth for promoting early.

Kagetsu, like all high speed melee units, works best as a Griffin Knight. It makes everything he does better, and late game he really appreciates the much higher speed cap compared to something like Wyvern.

While I do agree that changing classes to better fit growths is a good idea and generally what you should do. You should also consider the skills the class gives. Brave assist is hero exclusive and someone like Kagetsu would prefer this as he gains far more utility as a backup unit especially if you're going for dual assist+ builds. Kagetsu also doesn't lose much out on what he does best and if anything, only becomes better when being a Hero.

Because Kagetsu is freaking cool in his Swordmaster outfit! :D It is silly that FE Engage does not let you change to characters' default outfits when changing classes. FE Three Houses does have that.

@@khoaha6095 I can agree to that. Most characters look awful outside on their main promotion line. Hero class just gets negative drip which sucks because they're probably one of the best backup infantry classes outside of longbow warriors which have their own special stuff. For a game that looks really good for the most part it's weird that the area they skimped out on was this.

Yes, you should definitely consider those too!

So some interesting things. One is that Anna while yes she is the strongest mage in the game can actually take amazing advantage of griffon knight with its high magic dex and spd. If you give her a Levin Sword which scales with her magic she will still hit as hard as if she was a mage but will have amazing dex and speed as well making her an even more powerful killing machine. Also fun thing about Levin sword is that it still breaks axes and has a higher bas Mt than most of the tomes. It is heavier but with high speed that will not matter. Also it is much cheaper to upgrade than the strong tomes so overall the levin sword is just more powerful magic. Kagetsu is just absurdly strong unit overall. But unfortunately sword master is one of the weaker classes in the game. He would become even more effective on another strength class. Warrior, Hero, Griffon Knight, Wyvern Knight are some of the strongest str based classes due to there amazing bases, growths, and class skills.

Nice! I hadn't realized how the scaling worked on the levin sword. With that in mind, griffin night sounds pretty good!

I also really like this choice for Anna, and prefer Levin Sword over Flame Lance for its weight, though Flame Lance could also be valid. You get many, many good Tome users in the game, including the Elusian Princesses, so if you plan on using them, Anna might be better off as another, also magic-based Class.

Mauvier can be a pretty good Martial Master as well. Arts do an average dmg of both str and mag and Mauvier has both pretty good and the growths are the same as well. Get Luna Brace from Erika and he will be doing some good damage while being pretty tanky as well.

Celine's growth is good but her unique class growth is bad! I think it's better to change her into another class that make use of her good stat growth like Griffin Knight or Swordmaster (will has similar stat growth like Kagetsu)! Jean is super great! I made him into a Warrior and his damage is skyrocketing and on par with Panette, maybe better than her due to his higher Spd, Res and Def!

Sameee while vidame was cool, flying is always great for utility. Made mine a griffin knight after she kept falling behind other fliers

I looked at framme and clanne's stat growth and just have to say that they really did clanne dirty. Framme is a mess but easily fixed with the right strategy but clanne because IS made him a mage royally fucked him over. Why the hell would you put a mage on someone with 10% mag growth!? Like I used to think etie had it bad but holy shit clanne really got ripped off.

I agree. I wanted to give Clanne a chance though, and I eventually made him a mage knight. This makes him okay, not great, and definitely not the best, but okay.
