    I gotta say, this is really good review / over view of some of the 1040 options. Well done. If I may offer one critque it would be to consider creating a chapters list for easy searches later.

    Great video. I just ordered a 1040. I have a 204 mile event coming up. I have 2 questions. Re power guide. Does it take/accept a goal time and then adjust effort based on reaching that goal? And if the start of the ride, because it’s a bunch start and there are significant drafting advantages versus the end when at mile 150+ you are on your own, does it adjust power goals so that if the beginning of the ride is easy and you are ahead of your goal, it can adjust your power guide to still meet that time goal. Vice versa if you go real hard in the beginning and are overshooting the power goals, does it adjust down the remaining goals so you don’t bonk. I’m wondering if this is similar to the pacepro feature runners get on their Garmin watch.

    I'm guessing a bit here as I don't personally use the power guide. You can swipe up from the bottom of the screen during the ride , so I imagine in that scenario you would begin with an easier power average and once the drafting has ceased, swipe up and slide the slider to the right so the unit increases the required power you need to ride for the remainder of the event. I do use the stamina screen on events like this personally which helps me make effort adjustments during the event so I don't blow up - sorry i couldn't be more helpful 👍

    Excellent review. Good illustration of new features. I seethat parameters are entered such as bike and rider weight, does it also adjust for rider age? Hopefully features will trickle down into cheaper units that an average joe like me can afford!

    Hi, this was a very good video. I have one bike with a power meter and some others without. Is it possible to switch the daily workout sugestion from Watt to Heartbeat training? Have a nice day

  • @OrdinaryBlokeOnABike

    For daily suggested workouts to work it needs both power meter and heart rate monitor, so wouldn't work on the bikes with no power meter as far as I can see

    What's your best practice for calibrating your power pedals? Start of every ride? After a set amount of time?

    Because my Head Unit reminds me before each ride I do it every ride if I haven't started pedalling - good job it does that or I'd always forget to do it at all 🤣

    It does actually have a barometric altimeter and when I was in the Alps recently I was given my acclimatisation to the altitude after every ride 👍

    You need to be riding with both a power meter and also a Heart Rate monitor and after a few rides Garmin Connect will calculate your VO2 max so it looks like either you are not using a HRM or not enough rides have been completed 👍

    Hi, i have been trying to change the data fields on the workout screen and cant. The normal process works for changing data fields on every other screen except the workout screen. How did you change them?

  • @OrdinaryBlokeOnABike

    @OrdinaryBlokeOnABike

    Жыл бұрын

    hi Neil There are 3 data fields on the workout screen, the first one "Step Distance" can't be changed , goodness knows why, but the 2 fields below can be changed in the normal way with a long press to choose the field then a tap to bring up the lists. I guess you may have tried with the first one then assumed it didn't work perhaps ?

    Have you tried connecting the 1040 to Garmin Connect on your phone and try changing them on three? I chose my Road Activity Profile - Data Screens - Workouts and the option to change them on your phone is there , then synch with the 1040 and it updates
