What are we going to do without all of this Golden content you offer us ... Thanks you so much for Daily teaching us new things about FPV on your channel content, you are the GOAT Mr JB, much love ! I learned something today
Thanks for posting this now! Ordered the Integra goggles and I found out it didn't have removable antennas. Was kind of regretting my purchase but after watching this I am quite pleased!
Thanks for the comparison 👍. I've been so impressed with the stock antennas and they fold down to boot. I can fly a lot further than I'm willing to walk anyway. Nice not having to buy after market antennas👌
Thanks for the testing and comparison, Joshua! 😊 Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
That's so cool! Now, if we could just get manufacturers to start making us some foldable goggle antennas like they do either rubber ducky antennas! So we don't have to keep taking them on and off everytime we use them or put them away. Great video as always jb! I appreciated it!
Very interesting, clever adapter. I love the snap in feel of the MMCX. Interesting that you can even use a helical for LR.
Just ordered the adapters. Thank you for the video.
Dude your content is so damn awesome, Thanks for all you do
the quality on this video is so good. Please keep it up.
Thanks for pointing out about the wear to the goggles from constantly changing antennas, was considering the TrueRC X-AIR 5.8 MK2 but I would be taking them on and off all the time. This seems like a better solution.
That is exactly right JB..... my spotter wants to remain off camera too. You got that right. Nice comparison.

Good video. I’ve been looking at these lately but after watching this I think I’m going to spend my money on something else and stay with the stock antennae. They fold back, look decent and work great for my needs. Thanks JB.
Thanks JB, the stock antennae seem good enough for most users. Not much difference there. Long range nuts might benefit from third party patches. Could you do some tests to find and recommend some omni's that have better penetration than stock please?
I already use that antenna on my v2 and are great 😍🤤
Thank you Joshua for sharing. I noticed in your display "Goggles compass interference" warning. I recently encountered the same warning. I had never seen that before. I'd like to know if you have an idea what it is and if it is something that can be fixed. Thank you again for your time and all you have done for the FPV community all these years. Greetings from SoCal.
JB it might be an interesting same type test plus the DJI Goggles V2 with the Vista
Oh, you're running the Shy FPV Spotter too? What a coincidence, me too!
Thank you for the RL test, but I am not convinced that there was an improvement, more or less the same as stock. V1/V2 googles with patch antennas had a significant difference.
That is a brilliant product, it looks factory made
Thanks for the review, i think i will order a set, but damn i thought the issue with wearing out connectors would be solved with this kind of connector, but anyway i will try them out.
You da best bardwell
thanks for the video Joshua!!!!I just bought the TrueRC for googles 2 . We need a video of you, in which you investigate how it could be done, to be able to start recording the dji o3 from the radiomaster t16x or boxer please!!!. its possible?
Are the stock goggle antennas linear? How about the tx antenna on the drone? Because if there is a mismatch in polarization when switching to the after-market antennas, that may explain the lack of improvement in performance.
Too bad the g2 don't record srt files with Bitrate readings. I now found a very convenient measure method were I have opentx logs + srt files to get a nice chart: distance vs Bitrate. I have to fly 2km to see some difference on high gain antennas, but I put my friend 1.5km away with main goggles, then fly towards him 500m, then turn around and fly away from him 1km (which is the diameter of my 500m allowed range circle). I collected a ton of measurements so it will take me a few more days until RCSchim is back in antenna testing business ;)
Thanks for the comparison. I am starting to get into FPV and want to start out with a basic arrangement. I have a DJI Spark. Would the DJI integra work with the spark?
nice test! Nice job, is it possible to power the goggles with a 2s lipo battery? like the v2?
Yeah, I think I'll just stick with the really convenient stock antennas, that provide basically the same range. Never had issue with VTX signal, worst I've seen is orange and at that point my 100mW ELRS RSSI was so low I wouldn't continue anyway 😅 Cool option for the long range pioneers though, hopefully that becomes legal at some point. I'm sure there's people doing cool stuff, just not posting about it publicly.
It seems just keep and use the stock ones…. Ty JB
the stock look like winner, i wonder if the patches confused the dji set up in terms of switching up power based on strength versus quality, anyway personally i really like the v2 set up, with a circular on the quad, the range is just ridiculous, i've gone behind myself and out of los and didnt even realize till i watch the hd footage.
Original antennas good for just indoor real estate flight but big and multi floor building?
Hi. I'm curious if you can use other power suply to power up Goggles 2, like power bank with 9v output? Or you need to use DJI battery.
Goggles 2 are the best goggles out there , I tried different antennae's too but the stock seem to be the best ,, I think the antennae's inside are the ones that need upgraded , you have to turn your head and follow drone for best reception for the antennae is in the center .. you can bend the edges of the stock face plate to fit if you have a narrow face ,,, Only thing they are missing is the 1200 watt hack , the V2 goggles have more power but the image is far better on the goggles 2 ,, I have had zero issues with my Goggles 2 just awesome no more blob in the middle of the screen even in the distance crystal; clear fast flying
Hi, thanks for the video.I noticed that you have flight data in your video recording from your goggles. I have DJI goggles V2 and it just records some of flight data and not all of them. How can I set it up to record all flight data like distance and GPS data ? Do you have any videos for that ? Cheers
Funny, my spotter is demure as well!
I like your spotter, he works for me as well while not helping you.
Evan the stock antennas are Still Soooo Good…..
I think the reason the results do not show as much improvement are due to adding another connecting point. All the more knowledgeable people on your discord have told me that this can be an issue. A better modification would be to have an adaptor that mounted to the internal connection on the circuit board but this would void the warranty and might be difficult to set up. The range on the stock antennas is so good that this modification is not going to be worth doing for most pilots especially given legal limitations on flight distance.
My favorite part is "My Spotter... Who Prefers to stay off camera"... Mine is the same way!
Hi Joshua do fpv props break the sound barrier?
I'd love to buy your spotter a beer :'-)
@15:39 You can see he almost pulls the mcx back out of the goggle, then realize it's not worth the +1 mating cycle expenditure, and decides to leave it alone.. That's a very subconscious, logic based decision made in record time😆
Can you use 1 Omni, 1 Patch? I’m on the edge of going digital. I just want all the facts in front of me before I spend that kind of money on a new pair of goggles, cameras, air units. Will my existing VAS antennas switch over to digital goggles?
Would be interesting what the loss in the adapter is. If I would want to fly long range I for sure would use an antenna with the proper plug for maximum Performance!

To all JB competition. To beat him you have to take the Integra, open them,😊 and show us how to mount external antennas.
Bardwell, maybe you should mention that RF connectors and adapters can have from 1db to 5 db's of losses depending on frequency. Like a 6 db patch antenna will give you 3 db of gain, or double the signal strength.
@shalevshabtai547
Жыл бұрын
As far as I know they reduce the signal by about 0.3-0.5 db (depending on the adapter and all of that obviously). But thats still a not so small difference!
@JoshuaBardwell
Жыл бұрын
That's just not true. Any adapter that had 5 dB of loss would be defective and trashed. There are sometimes low-quality connectors with higher loss, but typical loss for a connector like this is around 1/2 dB.
5.8GHz is a wavelength of 5.17 cm, the halfwave antenna length is therefore 2.558cm (about 1 inch) any basic antenna more than an inch big will perform worse (that's a disclaimer there to tell people not to think they can just stick huge wires in the antenna holes to get a better signal, heh)... However this is technically a "wide-spaced stacked array" and that made of (seemingly) four stacked properly sized antenna, which when spaced the exact correct distance apart is well proven to really improve the gain over simpler antennas. I have seen big improvements using this sort of design ham rigs. The danger of this method though, is not just the "flatter donut" as you term it, but a potential to create a weirdly shaped lobe with some deaf spots, simplistically like someone has taken the donut and squished it towards the hole in one direction, if you don't get the distances pretty correct. The bendy sticks to lift the array away from the brain worries me in that regard. I am wondering if you don't tune that distance perfectly could you see such dead areas. I guess I should fire up the antenna modeller software and look at the lobes generated with 4 omnis at varying horizontal distances. I would think you can not only do flat plane X/Y but also likely the Z vector there depending how the bendies are oriented by the user, if one is forward and down while the other is aft and up the "donut" is not just squished in towards the hole, but maybe also tilted. Then of course, you are dealing with the ground just 6 or so feet under you which adds so many more variables. While not having them on bendy stalks would stop the potential for weird aperture and those dead zones, I think the increased gain bumping up the SAR so close to the brain wouldn't be a great. Having them like Marvin the Martian is safer. Interesting design for sure. They do warrant much more range testing, something I can't do here physically due to our laws, and can only somewhat model due to not knowing much of the type of omni itself. But it "aint" snake oil, that's for sure. I'll put it to YMMV.

idont care how far i can fly buddy!!! i aint putting them antennas on my goggles!! jesus! i'd be arested in the UK JOSH ..hahaha.. love the fpv stuff mate.. ive only been flying fpv serious since may
It didn't seem like those other antenna were getting any better reception. Is it possible that by adding another piece of metal between the googles and antenna that you're introducing additional resistance that's reducing the signal quality? Perhaps they've unintentionally created an additional problem whole developing this solution. Why don't companies just make antenna that fit these goggles? There are tens of thousands of people using them at minimum, so it seems like a worthwhile market
There was no need to change the antenna. I used dji G2 and O3 flew 23.4 km without any changes. It just need a higher altitude and a better electromagnetic environment
Will these work for the v2 goggles
Todays the day. I’m signing up
Can someone make a good padding for those damn goggles. I love after market padding that I have on my v2/v1 goggles.
I'm also just now noticing how tall those trees really are lol crazy
Compare any antenna to the original dji antenna that comes on your goggles after my test aftermarket antennas ain't better they just equal to the antenna that comes with your goggles

Moral of the video: use stock antennas
They steal my idea. I was first doing those adapters check them on eBay 🤬
Don't you lose 20% for every connection?
While I appreciate Lumenier producing this adapter, there are some take aways you may not be aware of. Adding any length of either wire or adapter from the radio to antenna element will drastically change the antenna performance both in harmonics and reflected power, basically it will no longer be tuned exactly where it was designed for. While this probably will have a minimal impact and the antenna will still technically work, if the idea is to get the absolute best performance out of upgrading your antennas from stock, you'll want to account for this adapter and somehow adjust your antenna to shorten it slightly based on the length added by the adapter. If you really wanted to min/max your antenna and range you'd want to build somewhat narrowband sets of antennas for specific channels/frequencies.

there is no way you would get better range with that adapter vs using the stock attenas. the dbm loss would be around 30% PER CONNECTOR, so 60% dbm loss TOTAL which negates any dbm gain from the higher dbm attennas and probably is worse coverage overall.
