    I only seldom leave comments on KZread, but I must say this is an excellent video, as are all the videos on your channel. As an adult figure skater & an instructor myself, I really appreciate your work & the simple, direct way you explain things. Thank you for all the great content. Greetings from Connecticut! ⛸️

    Double knee exercise 15:20 hey that"s great, I can't wait to try it. My power pulls are at level zero, I've never found time to work on those so I'm always embarrased in power class when they make us do those. I've seen an exercise like that from Lloyd for cross overs but I've never seen it otherwise. That brings up a suggestion. I've watched many of your videos and I think you and I have even shared a conversation or two in the comment threads, but I don't know your name. I think you should introduce yourself every video so that we know your name and so that we can talk about you in skate class. Coach Julia introduces herself, you should too!

    Yes, I also need to work on my power pulls. I want to do my test for adult silver, and my power pulls are not very strong. Thank you for the great exercises.

    Me neither introduce myself in every video 😊 Thank you, Paul! I'll work on double bending, especially in turns. Very useful!

    #2 keep your weight on your pushing foot. Q. It appears that for a fraction of a second, both feet are on the ice. Is that the case? Do you place your free foot on the ice before you actually start the push?

  • @iskatecoach

    @iskatecoach

    2 ай бұрын

    Great observation and yes if you step with your feet close together you can apply a longer time of contact in the ice, therefore there is a moment where both feet are on the ice. I also think about being both knees when pushing rather than just one so you can get this placement and charge 👍🏼

    Dear ISkateCoach, could you teach how to do this? kzread.info/dash/bejne/h5yYlMezYqbfnNY.html I have not found any instructions in English how to do this. (We call it backward inside cross rolls in my country.) One coach said that I must do underpushes, The other said that no, there are no underpushes. But from this video it seems to me that there are underpushes. I can do 6 crosses and then I'm stuck and stop if I don't try to push. When I push, it's so hard to bring my foot across my other foot (maybe because I go to too deep inside edge then?). Does this flow and power come from knee bend? It seems to me that I have to think more about skating through the heels too. Some people get this element really quickly but I don't and I feel bad for it.

    Hey, thanks for the request! I call these Sways. I did a video a few years ago for these but I didn’t talk and explain on it. However there are some good notes at the bottom of the video for tips and I personally would say that you absolutely should try and get an underpush as well as the inside to outside change of edge with a strong rise of the knee to generate even more speed. Here’s the link: kzread.info7PTf64hGaSE?feature=share There’s an outside version too! Really difficult that one 👍🏼

    @@iskatecoachThank you so much! I'll follow your advice for sure. I really want to master this element. And I'll try the outside version as well, when I'm more advanced. :)

    @@iskatecoach Do you mind make another video of these sways with the camera right in front of or behind you so we can see the lean (and turn?) of your body? A side view would be helpful, too. My biggest issue with the backward inside sways is toe picks scratching the ice just before the next push. Perhaps I should sit back more?

    6:04 Assuming you don't own that rink, how much did you have to pay to rent one quarter of it for private use (just kidding). do you have a bouncer in case some kid tries to cross into your space? You have impressive negotiating skills! I guess that's why this video is so much longer than your usual three minutes, you wanted to get all your time from the rental fee you paid. Let's see, have half an hour ice, I need 2 minutes sound set up, one minute hair and makeup, allow 10% overhead for special effects and reshoots, ok I can make the video 18 minutes and 37 seconds long.
