A cool variation would be to try and subtly put the chosen card in between the 4 aces, then play it like a routine. Lay the 4 out face down, then say you can get a certain order, for example, CHSD, THEN reveal their card.

There are multiple methods of doing a full in-the-hands riffle shuffle, complete with bridge and cut, that preserves the full-deck order. Same with the overhand shuffle: it's easy enough to fake it *completely*, i.e. not a single card is displaced. As for false cuts and false running cut or strip cut sequences, there's literally thousands of methods and variations! There's not a magician on Earth who knows everything there is to know about card magic. 😉

Great routine I can try out. One idea I have is, so that way the participant feels like they have absolute control, is explain the ways you're "shuffling" the deck, but call them A, B, and C. Then once you showed them two or three times, tell them to pick the next few "shuffles" until they're satisfied, giving them the impression they shuffled a deck, when in reality you controlled the cards

I'm just starting to learn cardistry, and I'm looking forward to getting the hang of what you showed here. My late grandmother was very good at shuffling cards and my family used to play a lot of card games when I was young. Moving cards around in my hands in interesting ways brings me that connection I had with her when I was young.

I'm assuming you put their card on top and then start shuffling? If that's the case, trying doing a overhand false shuffle. This can be done by overhand shuffling the top stock (with their card), holding that stock with your thumb and pinky while you continue to overhand shuffle the rest of the deck. Once your hand becomes full, throw that stock that was held by your thumb and pinky and toss it back on top. You can show the bottom card is not their card, and you can do a double lift on the top card to show their card isn't there (when in fact the card is still on the top of the deck)

I realized I said to hold the top stock you shuffle to the bottom with your pinky and thumb, but after doing it a second ago I realized its easier to grab with the flesh of your thumb and your middle finger. The packets of cards will naturally fall there, then you can just wait to throw it back on top at the end.
