Great video. Most people don’t understand how much it actually cost to build something. Especially starting out with a new jeep that $70k to $90k stock. When I built my 392 I didn’t want to know how much it cost till it was done. I understand that’s not the way everyone does it but it works for me. Now I have the jeep I always wanted.

I got a brand new JLU Sport S in November 2021 for about $40k. I figured up the other day that I've spent about $8600 on it over the last two years. Budget lift kit, 35s, a regear, rock rails, tire relocation bracket, wheels, a brake upgrade, steering stabilizer, track bar, front lower control arms, shocks... More, I'm sure. And I still have more I plan on buying (high clearance fender flares, replace my spacer lift with a real suspension lift, aluminum front bumper and winch, probably chromoly axle shafts in the frontat some point) which is another $3k in parts, easily. Even as a "budget" build (compared to a lot of KZreadrs) it's a lot of money for an average person.

I like to know what mods are done, how you like them, but usually don't ask the cost, cause I can look at that when I review what mods I want. If I want that mod I'll buy it or not. If you truly want something you'll find a way to buy it. Mind over matter

  • @backwoodstherapy

I think because people like to weigh the cost/benefit of upgrades and there's certainly a point of diminishing return on upgrades. You can get a JLUR with decent mileage by me for under $40k used, put a 1" puck spacer on it for a few hundred bucks, swap out your wheels and tires with 37s and a 4.5" backspacing for another $3k regear it for $3k, and have a rig that will hang out with Casey's for a fifth of the price. It won't be as fast and might not be able to do all the same obstacles but it'll get you anywhere you wanna go and on the same trails. So I think that's where it comes from.

Hey, Casey. Love the truck. I’ve noticed that all the AMW vehicles use the car front end on the engine, which mounts the alternator low, unlike all the Ram trucks, and the factory Wrangler 392. Any issues with the low alternator with water crossings or similar? The internet is full of videos of Broncos stalling in water, with the alternator potentially a factor. I’m wondering why AMW doesn’t use the TRX front end…

This is affordable for people like Casey because people watch his videos that are basically advertisements from stuff given to him from companies (to advertise), and most of these people/KZreadrs like him, are under contract. Bet if he didn’t have this KZread channel, with all of the subscribers watching, in turn the advertisement companies paying him, he wouldn’t be able to afford any of this. The subscribers and the advertisers bought him the gladiator (maybe the ecodiesel but I don’t know if he had that before he started this channel), and he is bound to only post stuff the sponsors let him post (stuff the average subscriber cannot afford) because he is under contract from his sponsors. On top of that, people watch the stuff that Casey posts/adds to his Jeep, stuff he couldn’t afford without this channel, because they want to see stuff they can’t afford, but are ok paying him via advertising. Casey, how about giving a free properly built Jeep to a lucky subscriber, since subscribers watch your channel and are the main reason you get paid. I don’t want a Jeep because I have one, but it would be a nice gesture to your subscribers, to give a Jeep wrangler/gladiator that’s very nicely built to your subscribers, to thank them for their support, other than just saying “thank you.” Actions speak louder than words.

A long time ago. These Epic-related channels started out being a bunch of regular guys who enjoyed running around in the wilderness in their Jeeps, doing the occasional mods and upgrades. Over the years they switched to these ridiculous builds that only a 1%-er (or KZreadr) can afford, but they are financed with KZread ad revenue, Patreon, and now these membership-only access fees for additional content. The “regular guy” thing went out the window a long time ago.

@glengore6609 I mean that seems to be the progression of any KZread channel with more than 20K subscribers. Only way to gain and grow subs is to continue to build attention. Where channels like bleepinjeep and dirt lifestyle fabricate builds (more affordable if you can do the work), other channels like this one can build bad ass rigs most can only dream of.

Look, truth be told, I used to want to hangout with you. I used to think you were humble. Then you produced a video to show all your viewers that none of them will ever be on your level or good enough to hangout with you unless they pay for your time. They have to subscribe monthly to be considered fans worth talking to. You just told everyone that you built this $300k rig (that no one watching you could even dream of attaining), you didn’t break a sweat because it’s 1 of many, and you put on this “better than you” flair. Nothing was built on your channel, because of your channel, that you didn’t already have or have money for. You’ve been rich since the beginning. You show us super expensive products that you review that none of us can afford and you ask for money in every video. Why do you do things and show things that most of us could maybe buy one a year, if that. Everything you have is a big buck item. Or custom. Can’t even pretend to buy it. No, you have elevated yourself above all of your viewers and above all lot of KZreadrs as well. It’s just disheartening.
