The 2024 Unlimited Bangers Season Opener at Speedway Emmen started very wet. As the heats went on the track got better and better. The Allcomers and the Demolition Derby were savage as always!
What is Banger Racing?
Banger racing is a tarmac, dirt, shale and chalk track type of motorsport event popular in countries such as the United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium and the Netherlands. Old scrap vehicles are raced against one another, with the winner being the first to the checkered flag after a set number of laps. Contact to damage an opponent's car is permitted and encouraged within the formula, with cars progressively becoming more damaged throughout an event. Races are held at an oval or tri-oval circuits that are up to 1⁄4 mile (440 yd; 400 m) long; however, on certain occasions, races are held in a figure of eight configurations. Banger racing is often confused with stock car racing, although there are differences between the two, despite often racing at the same tracks. Banger racing is also often confused with Nascar.

Do they use 4 cylinder engines in the large cars instead of the v8 engines? Great video as usual !

They use different engines. Some use ford, others use volvo or jag engines. All engines are allowed as long as it aint a turbo etc.
it is cool and kinda sad lol, im watching this in the bus to go work to buy a 100cc bike haha

Waarschijnlijk echt superdom maar hier komt het ik ben echt een broekie op gebeid van banger/speedway en dacht altijd dat het steeds moeilijker werd om te organiseren in nl, maar ik wil echt zo graag kijken naar races live en verder verdiepen in deze geweldige autosport. Vroeger bij ons thuis was het alleen maar formule 1 en daar geef ik persoonlijk niet veel om, is mij veel te braaf en het blijft allemaal heel jammer genoeg. Kan iemand mij heel mischien een klein beetje op weg helpen alsjeblieft? Groeten uit Brabant

Dag Yannick, Als je een keer een wedstrijd in het echt wilt volgen raad ik je aan om eens op de website of Facebook te kijken van ase bangers emmen. Zij organiseren meerdere wedstrijden per jaar met als hoogtepunten de teamrace in juli en de blue oyster trophy in oktober.

We never had any at Emmen. In the UK they had but that was because a driver got out of hi car during thr race and when they were racing without a h-frame, doorplates etc.

The cages around the drivers are really strong box section steel and the floor & doors are plated with thick steel. If you.look closely at the big crashes you'll see the whole car crumbles except the drivers compartment. They get a few broken bones but fatalities are virtually nonexistent

I've never been to Emmen. But the quality of banger racing there is 1 st class. I come from a Banger racing family here in Ireland and at big meetings here and in the UK sometimes they take no prisoners in tackling another opponent. I agree all banger cars are fully supported with steel on the drivers door and h frame roll cages . The action looked amazing and as always very good clear footage. Well done emmon.
