The book describes Amalthea’s hair as being “white as a waterfall” so absolutely no help finding a definite color there, either- waterfalls have tons of different shades. I think your interpretation of her hair color is absolutely lovely and if someone doesn’t like it they can paint their own differently. ❤

This is why I hate going outside of my comfort zone when it comes to characters and kits I don't know much about, I never read the book, then again, I based the design on an illustration from before the movie style was finalized and then took the color schemes from the movie so this is all over the place 😂😅

Correct, I was coming to say this as well. That's why in the movie, it was similar in color to her hair as a unicorn. The color change in the movie occurs as she becomes more human.

@@leonasworkshop Honestly, "white as a waterfall" to me just means the hair is semi-transparent or reflective, like water. And if the sun is shining on a waterfall just right, oranges and yellows are to be expected- that's just the way light works. I love the way Amalthea looks- the ash-blonde looks great and it contrasts nicely with the purples in the rest of her design. Great work!

I kinda like the idea that Amalthea's hair was white, but as she turned more human and forgot herself, it became more blonde. Y'know, more like a human. And I'd say your beautiful piece just reflects that idea!

I'm really glad your kits sold and as an aspiring hobbyiest for 3D sculpting it's super cool seeing the sculpt go from just being a computer only thing-> 3d-> printing to a real resin cast. I was wondering what company did you use to send your master to get a resin cast back? I'd love to be able to do that with my own 3D sculpts in the future.

Im weeping. This is my FAVORITE movie, even as a grown woman. My dad bought me the book to read and he passed away when i was a little girl. I would have LOVED to have one of these figurines, but i understand that they were on a limited run. I can respect that. You did Lady Amalthea justice. She looks beautiful. the Definition of Trust the Process. You had struggles but the final piece was so so so much more beautiful than anything I expected. The Last Unicorn was my childhood and, not only did you do it justice, you knocked it out of the park.

Your boyfriend is so lucky to have you in his life 💝 especially knowing the background drama that lead to this kit being created. The result looks so gorgeous 💓 I bet he loved it I am curious to watch this movie now, I dont think I ever did as a kid

I am a lifelong Last Unicorn fan, and the final result is breathtaking! Both the model itself and the magic you worked on it ❤❤❤ I gotta admit, I wasn't initially about the blonde hair when I was in the middle of the video 😂 but the final result looks really beautiful and I think adds wonderful contrast to her human form as opposed to her unicorn form. I feel like it underlines her departure from her natural form, and the otherness she felt. And it works great with the color of her robe! I love it so much, beautiful work to both of you ❤❤❤

Lovely figure! And I wanted to just give a little nod to the fact that when your voice over pauses and the music comes forward. Okay, I knew the final result was going to be amazing. I did not expect the combination of the figure and the music to get the hair on my head actually standing on end. This is... amazing. Sheer beauty. I'm breathless from it. Thank you for showing it to us!

this kit turned out show stopping, i LOVE how it all came together, and for the hair colour, i feel like ash blonde is a really solid choice, hell i've seen people draw her hair purple! before (and confused said art with deirdre from fire emblem because of it). ash blonde is a reasonable sensible choice and super gorgeous! also all the work that went into this is just awe inspiring, seriously have I mentioned how pretty it turned out? congrats on this project, I'm so happy we got to see the finishing process tysm for sharing!

Holy guacamole, the amount of time, energy, money and pure love poured into this project is amazing honestly. And the end product shows that dedication. I'm sure your boyfriend was proud and ecstatic to receive such a heartfelt gift. I didn't grow up with TLU (it was before my time) but when I did see it, I interpreted her hair as platinum blonde, which is basically what you did. And for a movie as trippy in color scheme as it was, trying to figure out an exact shade is like trying to find the exit in Escher's Relativity. lol

This is one of my favorite movies of my childhood. This came out beautifully!

I had the pleasure of seeing The Last Unicorn about 10 years ago in a theater with Peter S Beagle while he was on tour. One of the things he mentioned was the struggle to regain ownership of the rights for The Last Unicorn from a company he sold it to decades ago. He was celebrating the upcoming end of their contract and discussed his desire to remake the movie - especially since he had discovered a young female artist whose own skill, style, and depictions of characters and scenes from the Last Unicorn matched EXACTLY what he saw in his mind while writing it. I’m kicking myself because I cannot remember the artist.

Also can I just gush over the hands?! They are so spot on they look like they came right out of the movie!

love, Love, LOVE!!! This movie came out when I was a little kid and I loved it as much then as I do today (still have a copy on VHS and DVD) and I will be watching this tonight after seeing this! I will admit to some hesitation when you first started on Amalthea's hair, but as with all art, I withheld judgement until it was complete and I am so glad I did as it is perfect for this version of her. Mad kudos to your sculptor, as well. The unicorn version is SO perfect I am actually dumbfounded at the skill this took. Combine that with your natural ability with color and this is a vision of perfection. All I can say to this is, I'm alive...and I am so glad I was to see this.

I wish you didn't put yourself down so much. You're a great artist, and it's a tribute to your skills that you're able to adjust to the limitations your body gives you with none the wiser when viewing the final piece.

Omg this is gorgeous! You work magic girl, I swear! Gods... Id buy this kit right this second! But boy do I curse the financial leach that is my freaking chronic illness. Had to sell much stuff the last few years. The Last Unicorn was my childhood loving Unicorns (traditional an pop culture ones) and their history. My father even got my book autographed.

Honestly the Inconsitencies could be very much explained to her "Becomming more Human". Because she starts off very much "Unicorn colored" (Super-Pale Skin and white Hair) but becomes more "Human colored" (normal-ish pink skin and blondeish Hair). So your version makes as much sense as if you would have gone with white. Is how she might have looked like if she would have stayed a human, based on how she "colored" through the Film. And it looks amazing.

I wasn't to sure of the blond for her hair. I still think a paler blond or what you did for the unicorn would still have been better. But what you did is still incredibly beautiful and still works. Marvelous job!

Hey, your work is always incredible. Paint her whatever color you want. I admit I haven't watched the movie in years but I always saw the changing color tones as part of the story. The longer she is in a human body the more human she becomes, including her coloring. As well as the darker the rest of the world becomes since with her gone there would be no more unicorns in the world. No more true magic. It's only when she is a unicorn again and free that real magic and color comes back to the world. At least for a while. Or maybe I just read too much into it.

To be fair to the movie, the scene she referenced in particular for the more blonde tone is a dream sequence the prince has about her in an overly sunset bright toned purposefully done to contrast the grey tones of the world. The hair in her unicorn form never looks blonde even in bright sunlight when traveling for instance. It stays a white with soft pink shading. Her human version we only see in the storm ridden castle area so coloring is up to interpretation.

@sanzoskitten that makes perfect sense. And it still makes the changing color tones part of the film. Either way the kit is beautiful.

I always thought her hair color changed because it was slowly showing the purity of it all. She went from. Unicorn to human so it was pure white at the start and slowly shifted as she started to think more human thoughts. Even towards then end of the movie when she changed back i felt that her hair was not as pure white as it once was.

I find it interesting that you made the hair a blonde color, but with lighter highlights. I think everyone has their own version of Amalthea, but still beautiful. Also a pale blue almost always does well with white as it makes more natural looking shadows.

As a life long fan of the movie, I honestly get it about the hair. Generally speaking, any pale color would have worked. 😅👍 I'm so grateful you did this!
