One thing about Manowar, they were always a four man band, only one guitar and Joey's bass. That bass carries a lot of melody in many songs.

Here's the thing about Joey. He does go a bit overboard on his solos but he has a unique style of playing which really fits the songs he writes. I love his tone and volume on the early albums which is a way better approach than other metal bands who pretty much make the bass silent.

I love Joey's style. He's a little crazy, but those are all good artists :D

i am a big fan of the way he do "chugs" on bass. its different from guitar cus he keeps the original mid range and attack of the bass guitar. on live albums he pans guitar and bass on opposite sides so you can clarly hear the difference.

He plays bass guitar, not bass, it's a metal, not a jazz band ffs...

He's a metal bass player, period. A bass guitar is a guitar. The fact that he uses electric guitar techniques to play the bass guitar is totally irrelevant. He's not playing jazz or funk. His approach makes total sense.

I was a big fan of MoW music right into their Triumph of Steel era, so I know he is a very capable pro musician...but from there, their work as a band went down hill and I can’t stand Joe's "bass tone" rn, cos its delivered more close to a guitar...and his public antics and sayings doesn't help way too much either🤷‍♂️😒

Nobody is questioning Demaios' virtuosity - at least I'm not - I'm saying the sound is so muddy to be akin to just running one finger up and down a similarly wired up bass. The guy is a genius, but the clarity is not there to my ears - but maybe that is my lack of hearing.
