Okay the easiest way to find the full song: Someone write a song with this as the chorus. Have it go viral. Whoever the original singer is, they’ll try to speak out, maybe sue.

There is a movie called Ulterior Motives (1993). The sound track has Japanese song writers and composers. Maybe they wrote this song for the movie or promotions but never made it into the final cut or soundtrack.

All of the people putting such dedication into finding this song, it's a guarantee we would know what it is by now. I think that this song was made by one of carl92's friends, or a friend of friends, for fun. And it just so happened to be used to test audio recording.

The vocals have this inflection and accent that makes me believe that it may come from an asian city pop song, and as is the case with some city pop songs is that some of them have english lyrics mixed in with the lyrics in their native language. Also the reason why lyrics don’t turn up results is because with many city pop songs, the lyrics aren’t written or saved anywhere besides maybe a vinyl sleeve for the project the song is on

Omg, that makes a lot of sense, this does feel like a song from some Asian country since we used to have a lot of songs like this back in the late 80s!! The vocals reminds me a lot of the Japanese band Omega Tribe, even this one Indian singer I forgot the name of whose voice is exactly the same as this

Now that you mentioned it, I wouldn’t be surprised. If you look back in Japanese songs in the 80s, some of the singers have almost near perfect fluency in English, it’s sometimes hard to even tell right off the bat that it’s an Asian singer. Unless you actually look at them singing the song, and got notice the hint of their accents. One thing that 80s songs also sometimes have, is Asian Influences. Much like ‘A Taste of Honey’ with their cover of ‘Tsukiyaki’ One example I can also think of this, is a singer Tatsuro Yamashita. My first song I discovered him from was ‘Mermaid’, and I didn’t even realize it was by a Japanese guy until my mother pointed it out.

THIS IS A COMMENT FROM ANOTHER USE I AM FOLLOWING UP ON(ulterior motive 1993) .the story line makes sense . The music is similar , with the same crappy audio . It does reference romance , which can tie back into the "counting sheep in the sky". The cast of actors does also reference how there is alot of above fate , and it is a romance based movie. The "caught up in a world of lies" can also be connected vaguely with the trailer scenes , of the people being lovey dovey as a rando walks by. I'm pasting this here , from a comment i made , just so you can see it.

It's gotta be a japanese singer, the "of lies" seals it for me. The way the letter "f" is pronounced in japanese is different than it is in most western countries. For English you press your teeth directly up to your bottom lip and it produces a harsher sound, but for japanese the teeth rest just behind the bottom lip creating a softer tone more similar to the "h" sound.

I’ve shown this to my mother, she was born in the 70’s. She swears that she has heard of this from somewhere, even theorizing that it’s probably a boy band. Even though I’m a gen z teen, the singer sounds familiar to me as well. Mom used to play music all the time in the house from 8 tracks, cassettes to record player. This seems nostalgic to me.. I can’t get this out of my head. Hopefully someone can discover who at least the singer is, their vocals sounds gorgeous! Edit: Maybe Wham! (Specifically George Micheal)? Last Edit: Oh! The song’s been found. Awesome! Never heard of the artists, so that’s interesting. 👍

She told me that surely the person who was singing the song is someone Spanish-speaking, it is normal for some Latin American singers to cover or even reduce the Spanish lyrics of certain songs in English, like the one by Luis Miguel and a song by Michael Jackson I hope my information is helpful.

As someone who’s hunted down 80s songs before this one is so frustrating because there’s no leads 🥲 it definitely is from the 80s- I feel like it was most likely a small artist or college band that got their song played on a college station? Maybe? Because a lot of those kinds of groups would record demo tapes at a studio that would be professional but they wouldn’t get released on a larger scale. I hope someone comes forward!

Just happened upon this whole bit of lost media (not really my thing), but from a music industry standpoint; could this have been a demo song for a singer/pop star that was never picked up? That could explain why no one can find it officially. A lot of songs are written/demo recorded by production teams that would then shop it out to different big artists. I'm not sure how common that was in the 80s/90s timeline we're looking at here, but I know it happens all the time in the music industry today. Does anyone know if the original poster had any music industry or producer ties? I really hope the song can be found! It sounds like a bop~

The only way we can continue the search is if Carl92 wakes up from his eternal sleep and tells us where he recorded this song. Because all he said in his original post was that he only remembers recording the song on a CD while learning how to capture audio on his computer via a microphone or something, somewhere in 1999 or something. Some people have speculated that this song might have originated from an MTV Broadcast given the Pilot Tone which is only present in MTS Broadcasts in a selective few countries. If Carl92 steps up and tells us where he recorded this song, then we could eventually get another search going again. Also I know what you're thinking: "What if Carl92 doesn't remember where he recorded this song?" Well, trying to remember what you found is one thing. Where you found it is another thing. It's not that hard to remember where you recorded something. Plus, we're only asking for a Country here, not the exact Longitude and Latitude of the location where Carl92 recorded it.

DVD* & he didnt record the song onto a DVD, he recorded it onto something else and then backed it up to the DVD having saved nothing else from it. Its concerning that half of the people interested in this search dont know what carl92 actually said and then change it into something else. It was a backup DVD. The files are probably on another computer somewhere long gone.

I’m convinced that this song alongside the most mysterious song on the internet is just from an alternate universe/timeline that managed to intersect with our own, that’s why nobody can find the origin, with this song coming from a timeline where the evolution of technology started exactly 53 years later than it did in ours due to some weird event, leading to 2023 being the new 80s (I’m not crazy I just find this stuff cool)

Id say this song is from the 80s or even late 70s (78 or 79) to (82 or 85), its definitely from the 80s though, i showed this to my mum and she said it sounded very familiar but didn't know the name or artist, i read some of the comments and one guy said the person who made this song was Asian and thats actually correct because the pronunciation of some words are identical to a Asian accent. Another guy said that this song was supposed to be in a McDonalds commercial but the commercial itself didn't air and the song got scrapped, so i have a theory that this is all we will ever have of this song because it was only supposed to be a snippet for the commercial that never aired, and the original uploader just so happened to get the full snippet of the recording from their TV, even at that i think when it was "scrapped" someone else used it for their commercial or TV show so thats how they got it. Its kinda sad how this is the only thing we will have of this song, its stuck in my head. Plus if it was a full song we would probably have it by now, that just proves its only a snippet.

Sounds like it should be in a 90s Japanese commercial.

I usually try not to comment more than once on a particular video. But I decided to create a little project. It may help a little. Or it might not. I'm going to be listening to various 80s songs that to me, gives similar vibes, and I would be listing them down here. I might divide into categories of Closest instrumentals vs Closest vocals. But for now, it's just a basic list. I'll be adding more every time I find something! • Tiffany (Artist, Vocals which I found may be similar in her 80s era) • Yume no Tsuzuki (Marina Takeuchi) • Do you Feel like I feel (Belinda Carlisle) • Circles in the Sand (Belinda Carlisle) • Kiss ‘N’ Tell (Chantoozies) • Shattered Dreams (Johnny Hates Jazz), Only for the instrumental • I feel The Earth Move (Martika) • I heard a Rumor (Bananarama)

Theory: EKT is a testing audio that is used for looping, it was not significant, so no artist has been found
