    @@hopex9698 It depends on what course u'll be doing, because the course i'm doing now (economics and languages) required grade 6 and above in maths, but I've got 5 in that ( i told them that I will resit maths in june, so they made me a conditional offer to get 3 distictions plus grade 6 in maths gcse), due to covid I didn't resit maths, but they still accepted me, coz i wasn't my fault. Your predicted grades are really good as most of the courses in uni of sheffield want A*AA, AAA, AAB

    Hi were would you recommend would be the best location for accommodation when studying biomedical science that wouldn’t be too far in Sheffield?

  • @abs.tract_

    @abs.tract_

    3 жыл бұрын

    Heyy, based on the department of Biomedical science (opposite the Students Union) I would recommend accommodations in town. Few are Allen Court (provided by the uni) and Hollis Croft (private accomodation). There are a lot of other ones too. It’s just a matter of looking and seeing the distance you don’t mind walking on Google maps.

    My son is planning to visit Sheffield for the first time next Tuesday, now that he has accepted an offer for September. Will he be able to access the university itself as I know there are no Open Sessions as such as the moment? Is it worth him trying to link up with a current student who could show him around? Thanks

  • @abs.tract_

    @abs.tract_

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi, firstly congratulations to your son on his acceptance 🎉🎉🎉 I think a few things should be open so I would encourage to visit (if the journey isn’t too far)before uni closes as he can actually see students and the uni itself. There are also online university tour of Sheffield which is also helpful if he can’t come to come all the way to the North. If a current student is willing, then definitely but it might be a quick and short tour as the university is only just getting active again. He will definitely enjoy the university more in September as most buildings will be up and running and the university will be busier too! I hope this helps 😆

  • @abs.tract_

    Heyy, congrats on your offer! I would suggest the city accommodation in that case they are a lot more modern and can offer you a lot of en-suites, separate kitchens etc. but keep in mind you will have to walk/ get the bus to attend any lectures based in the Pol and IR dept. (About 18-20 mins walk roughly)

  • @abs.tract_

    Hehehe, welcome to the club!. The course is overall very interesting and also very flexible as it allows you to pick modules you enjoy and one module from another department every semester!. Some of the lecturers are really experts in their fields too. However, when it comes to the issue of diversity within the modules themselves, more can be done!. I believe we can definitely have a more diverse reading list and perspective from other parts of the world, readings from more women and also a lot of the modules need aspects of decolonisation within them. These are my thoughts on the course x

  • @abs.tract_

    @abs.tract_

    3 жыл бұрын

    Heyy, Politics and IR as a course is honestly very interesting and varied! It really allows you to explore different issues now, provides different lens of understanding and it is very engaging. I don’t like all the modules but that’s expected for any course. I feel like across the UK, there are aspects of decolonisation that needs to be done to the curriculum we are taught. I would love to see more readings of women and voices of people beyond the west consistently included in the reading lists and topics we engage with. The people on the course are also varied with different political views. There are significantly more white students who study the course. Studying a course like this, you will meet and engage with opinions you might not agree with.
