Not really, cause at UJ maths is elective in your second year. So it depends on you, if you chose maths in second year than yes but if not than no.

As per my knowledge, first year students can not work at UJ cause you are still junior and have no one to teach but you can start tutoring from second year as you have knowledge of 1st year.
