LOVE that MASCULINE energy! What a shame that these days masculinity is referred to as "toxic"... This was amazing and beautiful to watch ❤
Still my favorite hakal I listen to this every spar day
This is honestly scarier that Plaxico Burress holding a gun.
THIS IS AWESOME BEYOND WORDS!!!
I agree with you Ben! Because he is the team captain and a senior he should have been leading it the whole season! Thanks for sharing this special clip!
Us Maori actually came from islands around east Asia hence why certain language features are similar like Japanese pronunciations are very similar to that of Maori. Hawaii may have been populated by a lost waka from when they made the journey to Aotearoa or a tribe that just adventured more east.
They should have done this in front of the fans
Go Hawai'i =D. Strong and proud show the Haka and respect to the creators of it.
Go Warriors
Look at those uniforms tho 🤩🤩🤩
I love it!
It's time to upload a more current Haka.. Like, this year!
Slow down! You are all doing it to fast. Slow it down and you got it.
crazy!!!
Love It... Traditional rituals have been part of life and sports for ages. Football is a war, ask anyone who's played the game. The Haka, has it's place with Islander Tradition... I'm completely supportive & embrace this Warrior Dance! I only wish the powers to be, wouldn't be so closed minded on tradition. Look forward to the game at our house this fall!
That is the spirit
Yes
They won the game
Damn Tika Tonu being done by Hawaiian brothers, ka mau te wehi. Too much cuuzies!

What exactly are they saying? Could someone translate? :)
maluku satudarah nyonggg!!!!!!!
Awesome, haka :)TheBabyoctopus, luvs, the haka :)
where can i buy this jersey?
this is not a haʻa, this is a Haka. which they should not be doing. There Hawaiian Warriors not Maori Warriors. An ʻAihaʻa is appropriate, not a haka.

If they could harness that mana during the game they’d be national champs!
Nice
I get hype every time I watch this!!! I miss Hawaii!!!
They should do this on the field in front of the other team

No I'm not sure about theres, I am a Haka teacher and writer. I was given the name hakaboy when I was in my 20's by my family because I was obsessed with them.
Kefe uma otou
Danaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Maori research says different but as I said it is academic at this point but as a pacific Islander thanks for your opinion anyway
totally agree with that one, uso.hey, btw,do maluku people have war dances?
This is a new Zealand and Maori haka/dance not Hawaiian
TORONA TI TAHA!!!! TI TAHAAA!!!!!
nothing like a energetic, full-throated HAKA!!!!
Yeeeah i know and lol I only just realised your name "hakaboy" hahahah and do you know what the Fijians call their war dances?
very very true, To perform a haka badly out of time and tune without perfect pronunciation is very much worse than not performing it at all. Also for the record Maori perform a Haka, Samoans perform a Siva Tau, Tongans perform a Sipi Tau and Hawaiians perform a Ha'a. There is no such thing as a Hawaiian Haka, only Hawaiians doing a Maori Haka

There's Maori, Hawaiian, Tongan and Samoans on this team. They are not taking from anyone. The Maori haka is the most known.

Everytime I see the haka being done by hawaii I almost every time copy and paste a video in these comments to show them this is how a Haka is performed. I'm Maori myself 🤣 but apparently from what I was told by this Hawaiian guy in the comments. He said there were Maoris that moved to hawaii and showed them one of the Hakas which is this one. And they basically just adopted it 🤷🏽♂️

@@aaronkamakaze2967 You idiot, there are Samoans, Tongans, Fijians and Cook Islanders in the All Blacks but do you see any of them doing a hula or claiming it to be theirs? Stay fake. You don't have enough pride in Hawaiian Culture so you leech of Maori Culture to make you relevant.
why don't they do Ha'a? Maori Haka is bad ass but it's almost comedic seeing Hawaiian doing Haka
Chhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeheeeeeeeeee
Ahh good reply man and it kinda sounds pretty true but any how if you're going to do a haka you should do it properly even if Maori came from Hawaii it's disrespectful to do a haka wrong and i take big offence since this is tika tonu.
is it just me or every guy here looks like manti teo

MMMmmm I dont know were to start, Maori are particular to Aotearoa , It does not mean Polynesian it means the indigenous people of Aotearoa. Feel free to check the definition, Aotearoa is soutjh of Hawaii not east as you claim, and finally Maori originated from Hawaii as told by Maori folklore and traditions look at a map Hawaii is closest to Asia. Hawaii is a corner of the Polynesian triangle where all Polynesians come from the others being Easter Island and Aotearoa
@aaronkamakaze2967

Hawai'i is not closest to Asia lol. Most of Polynesia is much closer. Hawai'i is actually closer to North America then anywhere else.
thrill*
is this serious or are you joking? cause it's pretty damn obvious that they're doing this in the locker room so of course you didn't see it if you went to the game
All your points are irrelevant saying they have no right doing a Maori haka when the University of Hawaii's football team has Maori,hawaiians,tongans,Samoans,fijians,tahitians... We do the haka because we believe in unity as 1people and 1team we see the unity of our Aoteaora Cousins The All blacks when they do they're haka that's why Hawaii does the haka also when A Maori from Aoteaora taught the haka too the UH team but yes I wish they. Would use a War Cry that would have all the Polynesians warcrys like for example a Haka-Maori Ha'a-Kanaka Maoli Siva Tau-Samoan..... just all the Polynesian cultures all in one warcry would be awesome

StayHIGH Cloud9Muzik except the haka is specifically moari, not somoan not tongan not tahitian and definetly not hawaiin... make sense? The haka is moari. Why not do the hula? The fact you guys use the haka shows you lack cultural pride and integrity.

@@maershkinschrabs7597 I mean I understand both perspectives, as myself is Maori 💯 As a Moari seeing this done by Hawaii it was a head scratcher for me, But then as this person has stated there are different polys in this group including Maoris. But in saying this if they're doing it they should always have a Maori Boy to lead it . It's only right, as for the All blacks for example we have Tongans , Samoans and even Pakehas doing the haka but you'll always see a Maori leading it. It'll be a one of type of thing if a samoan does it. Cause I know Kevin Mealamu has leaded it once before

@@brendonwilson3830 When was the last time you've seen the All Blacks doing a Siva Tau, Sipi Tau, Cibi, Pe'e, Takalo or any other war dance other than the haka? The answer is never. Why is that? It's because NZ is the ancestral Homeland of the Maori. Here's another thing to put into perspective, considering that Australia has a high number of Pacific Islanders, when was the last time you've seen the wallabies or kangaroos rugby teams ever do a haka? The answer is never, and the reason why is that it is the home of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. What makes Hawaii any different? The only reason they dont want to do a Hawaiian war dance is because theyre too ashamed of not looking cool enough and just want to do it for clout.
the title of the video was "game highlights hawaii vs ..." so the title was bullshit. i wouldn't have commented anything if it said pre-game haka...
can yall just like shut up and enjoy the thrll? damn.
Does Hawaii not have their own war dance? I mean if you do, why take another countries. Be proud of your culture be proud of your history

I a ha hā! this is not the ha'a of hawaii this in words is haka taparahi, haka of maori origin, haka need to be clear fast or slow haka needs to be said in right forum, haka also needs to be understood, please understand within Polynesia our way needs to be fully understood even to the extent of understanding why this haka was created haka is not all about anger and to be scary but it is speech which holds the maori way so when doing haka make sure word of haka that parts from your mangae your mouth is the speech that utters deeply from your soul because this is maori way this is why we are so protective thank you
nice...they dance with machete...
is samoan included? actually my grandfather's grandfather is from maluku. i'm samoan-american.
Idk what's worse.. the haka or the fact Everytime UH does the haka they end up losing lol

Hawaiian war dance or chant is called the ha'a. I'm guessing people just refer to it as a Hawkeye because haka is more well-known
Hawaii team but it’s Maori haka? Tf
look at mr chow haha
If i were on the other team id be afraid to hear that, a bunch of guys in full football gear getting an adrenaline rush BEFORE the game.
my uncle number #42
Firstly in repy to your comment I am Maori secondly Maorians is not a word, and thirdly Maori came from Hawaii not the other way around, we consider ourselves the younger cousins of the people we call the country of Hawaii. Hawaiians and people representing Hawaii have every right to perform a ha'a which is there version of a haka. We get very offended when they perform a haka in Maori, but for them to perform a ha'a in Hawaiian (which maori is a dialect of) is fine and perfectly correct.
They did it very well but they just needed to slow down a lil c:
you guys should do the haka when u guys win a game
Oh yeeah I know several Hakas but that's nothing great I'm just really annoyed at this video since Tika Tonu is one of my favorites.
They need to slow it down and get the pronunciations correct other wise it's just pretty disrespectful to be honest. Me my self being from Tuhoe the founders of Tika Tonu I am ashamed to hear this.
its a maori haka😢
I see two white guys and they're just lip syncing haha
Haha funny there's more TONGAN and SAMOANS in the Hawaiian team lol
That was absolute shit. This is my tribal Haka Ngati Kahungunu. These are our ancestors chant which you are not telling properly. I personally think this is disrespectful. You are telling our story/chant wrong to the whole world. This Haka is about a father who sees his son struggling to transition from a boy into adulthood telling him to be strong don't give up. You are not telling this story. Your words and actions are all disconnected which makes this chant disconnected. Learn the words and feel the meaning. Tika Tonu is suppose to be done slow. Haka is not Rap music. Chahoo has no place in Maori culture so don't do it in the haka. Kanaka Maoli should be the culture performed regardless of ethnicity. Native Hawaiian tongue should be compulsory. I know you have all these different cultures but Hawaii is the Land,Native Hawaiian is the culture. Breathe Hawaiian, speak Hawaiian, dance Hawaiian, eat Hawaiian and live Hawaiian. Be proud to be Hawaiian acknowledge your ancestors and tell their stories.

It talks about the transition from boy into adulthood. This is a haka done completely wrong if that's what you mean by Hawaiian version. Watch my school do it Te Aute College haka Tika Tonu.

Not as powerful as originally thought it when I first heard it. The intentions is on point but the heart isn't aligned with the spirit. In all honestly, this Haka is in danger! It posses no authenticity, no heart, and no spiritual mana. These fucking haoles and mokes should take it seriously. Practice the shit religiously get it right! Pronounce the correct words and poor more emotion into it! The Haka is a Battle dance, a War cry, a True Warriors anthem of Life and Death.
