Us Maori actually came from islands around east Asia hence why certain language features are similar like Japanese pronunciations are very similar to that of Maori. Hawaii may have been populated by a lost waka from when they made the journey to Aotearoa or a tribe that just adventured more east.

I'm completely supportive & embrace this Warrior Dance! I only wish the powers to be, wouldn't be so closed minded on tradition. Look forward to the game at our house this fall!

very very true, To perform a haka badly out of time and tune without perfect pronunciation is very much worse than not performing it at all. Also for the record Maori perform a Haka, Samoans perform a Siva Tau, Tongans perform a Sipi Tau and Hawaiians perform a Ha'a. There is no such thing as a Hawaiian Haka, only Hawaiians doing a Maori Haka

Everytime I see the haka being done by hawaii I almost every time copy and paste a video in these comments to show them this is how a Haka is performed. I'm Maori myself 🤣 but apparently from what I was told by this Hawaiian guy in the comments. He said there were Maoris that moved to hawaii and showed them one of the Hakas which is this one. And they basically just adopted it 🤷🏽‍♂️

MMMmmm I dont know were to start, Maori are particular to Aotearoa , It does not mean Polynesian it means the indigenous people of Aotearoa. Feel free to check the definition, Aotearoa is soutjh of Hawaii not east as you claim, and finally Maori originated from Hawaii as told by Maori folklore and traditions look at a map Hawaii is closest to Asia. Hawaii is a corner of the Polynesian triangle where all Polynesians come from the others being Easter Island and Aotearoa

All your points are irrelevant saying they have no right doing a Maori haka when the University of Hawaii's football team has Maori,hawaiians,tongans,Samoans,fijians,tahitians... We do the haka because we believe in unity as 1people and 1team we see the unity of our Aoteaora Cousins The All blacks when they do they're haka that's why Hawaii does the haka also when A Maori from Aoteaora taught the haka too the UH team but yes I wish they. Would use a War Cry that would have all the Polynesians warcrys like for example a Haka-Maori Ha'a-Kanaka Maoli Siva Tau-Samoan..... just all the Polynesian cultures all in one warcry would be awesome

@@maershkinschrabs7597 I mean I understand both perspectives, as myself is Maori 💯 As a Moari seeing this done by Hawaii it was a head scratcher for me, But then as this person has stated there are different polys in this group including Maoris. But in saying this if they're doing it they should always have a Maori Boy to lead it . It's only right, as for the All blacks for example we have Tongans , Samoans and even Pakehas doing the haka but you'll always see a Maori leading it. It'll be a one of type of thing if a samoan does it. Cause I know Kevin Mealamu has leaded it once before

@@brendonwilson3830 When was the last time you've seen the All Blacks doing a Siva Tau, Sipi Tau, Cibi, Pe'e, Takalo or any other war dance other than the haka? The answer is never. Why is that? It's because NZ is the ancestral Homeland of the Maori. Here's another thing to put into perspective, considering that Australia has a high number of Pacific Islanders, when was the last time you've seen the wallabies or kangaroos rugby teams ever do a haka? The answer is never, and the reason why is that it is the home of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. What makes Hawaii any different? The only reason they dont want to do a Hawaiian war dance is because theyre too ashamed of not looking cool enough and just want to do it for clout.

Firstly in repy to your comment I am Maori secondly Maorians is not a word, and thirdly Maori came from Hawaii not the other way around, we consider ourselves the younger cousins of the people we call the country of Hawaii. Hawaiians and people representing Hawaii have every right to perform a ha'a which is there version of a haka. We get very offended when they perform a haka in Maori, but for them to perform a ha'a in Hawaiian (which maori is a dialect of) is fine and perfectly correct.

That was absolute shit. This is my tribal Haka Ngati Kahungunu. These are our ancestors chant which you are not telling properly. I personally think this is disrespectful. You are telling our story/chant wrong to the whole world. This Haka is about a father who sees his son struggling to transition from a boy into adulthood telling him to be strong don't give up. You are not telling this story. Your words and actions are all disconnected which makes this chant disconnected. Learn the words and feel the meaning. Tika Tonu is suppose to be done slow. Haka is not Rap music. Chahoo has no place in Maori culture so don't do it in the haka. Kanaka Maoli should be the culture performed regardless of ethnicity. Native Hawaiian tongue should be compulsory. I know you have all these different cultures but Hawaii is the Land,Native Hawaiian is the culture. Breathe Hawaiian, speak Hawaiian, dance Hawaiian, eat Hawaiian and live Hawaiian. Be proud to be Hawaiian acknowledge your ancestors and tell their stories.

It posses no authenticity, no heart, and no spiritual mana. These fucking haoles and mokes should take it seriously. Practice the shit religiously get it right! Pronounce the correct words and poor more emotion into it! The Haka is a Battle dance, a War cry, a True Warriors anthem of Life and Death.
