University of Evansville Concrete Canoe 2013
This year, the University of Evansville's civil engineers opted to try something new with their concrete canoe: adding dimples to reduce drag - an idea they found in an episode of Mythbusters. The result? The team earned a trip to the American Society of Civil Engineers' National Concrete Canoe competition, where the ASCE awarded them its national Innovation Award.

There’s a competition between engineering schools for building a canoe out of concrete. My school decided to integrate the divots of a golf ball into the design, based on that episode of Mythbusters. We won an innovation award.
