I’m SO happy to hear this! That’s our goal!!

Being the first one on Hagrid's and having an entire train to myself will always be a special memory for me (and, yes, i was on the left side LOL). The key is these long legs -- no one speedwalks faster than a Rainbow Unicorn!

My family and I will be in Universal Florida for the first time, in May. I really appreciate all of the tips you and Chris provide. We are planners and feel so much more relaxed knowing what we're getting into.

My family went for the first time to Universal Orlando Studios last summer, and your tips are spot on, Amanda! Tip #11 that I would add is to make sure you are by the Hogwarts castle at night for their Nighttime Show (think fireworks). The castle comes alive with projections that are first rate!

Another good reason to ride Hagrid's Magical Motorbike Adventure early is because the ride has a tendency to break down throughout the day. By going early, you are more likely to get on and not deal with delays. I love UO and IOA. I share these same tips with family and friends. Thank you for the great video!

Universal as a film production company is among my favorites! The theme parks are an extension and the "icing" on the cake! I was super excited when they planned to build in Orlando. Universal knew to step UP its game in Orlando as well as California. The level of detail, quality of rides/shows & food are the BEST! 3-4 days is about RIGHT! There are a lot of other things in the Orlando area to do as well. Thanks Amanda! Your enthusiasm is such a DELIGHT!

Hi Amanda- Thank you so much for all of this advice and information!! I have been to Universal Studios Orlando twice, such an amazing theme park. There is a lot more I have to see on my future Universal vacation such as Hagrid's Motorbike Adventure, Diagon Alley, and Jurassic Park. These tips you mentioned are quite important and I strongly agree with them. I will be using these as helpful tools to help me. Thank you Amanda for showing me this and bringing such helpful advice!! I so want to visit Universal Studios Orlando again.

These are great tips. As a fellow Utahan to you(Provo). Universal let us upgrade our passes to Season passes when we were there. We went all of the way with premier. The 5 day pass which ran like 500 dollars was applied to each of our passes and we only had to pay an extra 600 or so dollars for the premier. Along with that came not just parking but free valet parking, extra higher discounts for food and shopping, and Express passes after 4:00. It's worth it if you go more than 2 trips a year.

We went that exact same time in April last year and the weather was fantastic!! We did volcano bay then too! Always expect rain in Florida but even our rainy days are fun!

I don't get along with water rides. It is a love hate relationship. They are a bit of a rush, but if I'm going to get wet, I want to be in a pool or surfing.

I go to Universal every year, but it's usually around the same time as HHN. THis year, we're going on November 11th to see Earl! I am so excited! I already use the majority of your tips and hope to see you there! Butterbeer Fudge is great, but I think I love the Ginger Newt cookie better. For the VIP tour, do you have to buy a ticket for everyone in your party? My entire party already has an annual season pass, so park admission is covered.

The ginger newt cookie really is awesome, especially when dipped in hot butter beer! I don’t think you need additional tickets if you have season passes but we’re not totally sure, definitely call 1-855-Get-Away and ask when you book the VIP tour! Have a blast!!

I will be there February 12th and September 23-25. I can't wait ! 😀

Jurassic Park, The Mummy, Simpsons, and Transformers! But most of the rides do have differences between Hollywood and Orlando!

Great tips, I am going the first week of February but I am not staying in any of Universal hotels. Is it still a good idea when the park opens to go straight to Haggards and then to Velocicoaster? This will be my first time visiting.

Hmm, good question! I personally don’t think I would try for Hagrids if you’re not early entry. But honestly it’s a toss up, you could do Velociaster first and try for Hagrids late in the day… or if you are first at the gate at real park opening time you could try Hagrids, just expect to wait a little! Have fun!

Orlando vacation for extended family (18 of us) the last week of June. We already have a home rented for the week, but haven't bought any theme park tickets yet. The initial plan was four days in Disney and one day at Universal. Was gonna do a Disney VIP tour for half of us, but your Universal VIP tour looked like a lot of fun. If budget wasn't an issue, which would you choose, Disney VIP day or Universal VIP day?

Oh this sounds like a dream trip!!! If you’re only doing one day at Universal, definitely Universal VIP!! Plus it’s a true front of the line experience. Plus meals. Plus fully customizable! Loved it.

See Paging Mr Morrow today current vlog for Universal VIP, v nice for current info. Would delve into PPP of course, so lovely, so helpful always for everything, everywhere, the best.

When I went in December, I stayed at the primers hotel. They told me that day that the park opened 1 hour earlier but I could go to the gate that let's to the entrance an hour before that. So I waited at 7 to the gates open, then went to the main gates to get there before it opened. I am surprised no one realizes this at all.

Lanyards work great!! And we had shoes to enter the park, but then left them by our chairs when we went and played in the water.

So I got a question. I just moved to Florida at the end of the year. I'm looking at getting an annual pass. But I also wanna just buy a single ticket for a friend of mine. Should I buy the pass first then buy the single ticket afterwards with the unlimited express passes? I've never bought an annual pass for anywhere before so I have no clue how any of this works. I'm looking at buying the pass this Saturday then going on Sunday. Also, I'm moving my daughter (shes 9) down this summer after school lets out, should I wait to get her an AP then or how does that work for kids?

Yes and yes! Mythos is our favorite. When you call Get Away Today ask about restaurant reservations and they can help! Chris also likes the 3 broomsticks family feast (no reservations/quick service).

Good evening from Seattle, we are coining to US on January 31 for the 4 days. We got the two days free. How do we get the VIP tickets? Thank you

When Amanda says you will get soaked, believe her! Bring shorts, a T-shirt, and flip-flops. Change into these and then ride Jurassic Park River Adventure first and then Ripsaw Falls and Bilge-Rat Barges. Then you can change back into your dry clothes. DO NOT miss “The Bourne Stuntacular”, even if you don’t like the films. It is NOT a 3D schlock-fest. It is an immersive, live-action show, unlike anything you have seen before. I am hooked on Frozen Butter Beer, but my wife loves Pumpkin Fizz. I recommend Fire Eaters, for the gyros, fried pita bread, and tzatziki. My tip #11 is, USE THE FREE LOCKERS at the various rides. They are free for 30 minutes. However, if a ride takes longer, I’m looking at you Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, an attendant will open an “expired” locker free of charge. You don’t have to cram everything into a single locker, you can get one for each person, as they are tied to your park pass. You can pay for larger lockers, but you don’t have to. However, the refill popcorn bucket does NOT fit in a standard free locker.

I know you mentioned it a little but at IOA some of the best rides are at Marvel Superhero Island. Hulk and Spiderman ride are both AMAZING. I was really disappointed in Web Slingers, I mean the Spiderman Ride at IOA is SO MUCH BETTER, and it came over over 20 years before Web Slingers did. I do need to go back so I can ride the new raptor coster.

The men at the 19 minute mark, who were quite clearly trying to either intimidate, mock you, or ruin your shot, are disgusting. Their glare made me so uncomfortable for you.

You can probably squeeze both parks in a single day if you don't want to ride everything and you have an express pass. Universal studios is probably the most accommodating to larger guests as most rides are simulators. If you are on the larger side, check your weight and measurements before, and make sure the restraints fit so you aren't turned away after waiting in line. I had someone in my party be turned down on several rides and it put a damper on the atmosphere. Volcano Bay is the most severe as they will weigh you on most tube rides. Some of the more intense rides have metal detectors, so you can't bring your phone onboard, and you will have to store it while on the ride. The rides include hulk, rock-it, and velocicoaster. The latter has pass through lockers inside the ride. These lockers are free of charge while you ride. Try to ride hagrid's as soon as possible. Not just because it's popular, but because it has reliability issues so it might go down later. I'd recommend skipping the park hopper if it's your first trip, because you won't be able to get to everything in both parks in one day. If you are spending a day in universal studios (not islands or volcano Bay) you don't need to worry about water from attractions (although check the weather) Universal studios is the better of the two parks when it's raining because most attractions are indoors.

Universal is definitely taken a dominant step to challenge WDW. Especially with the new park/lands coming.
