The thing that I was hoping to see but didn't was how do you turn the spindle on? When I run UGS the spindle never turns on automatically and I haven't found a manual switch to turn it on. Candle has both of those, but I was told UGS was much better, so I wanted to run that. I'm using a Genmitsu 3018 pro CNC. Any ideas to help me with this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. I have just finished building my new 1000 x 1000 Workbee. I need some help in creating the spoiler board in Fusion 360.

I am using universal gcode platform 2.0 and i am not ably to use the jog controller as the center keyboard is blue and getting eror 8

Best intro to UGS. Can we use a mach3 usb controller with UGS?

Do you need to know how to use UGS if your Workbee has the Ethernet control interface.

Just an FYI that hopefully someone may find useful, GRBL 1.1 uses 115200 baud, and older versions use 9600 baud.

Hi. Have brand new work bee sat ready to go, so installed this as instructed but when I press open I don’t get the active state or any bumpf in the console part. Work bee duet connected, Yat for my terminal connected. I can move the axis’s via the duet but not with G code sender. Any help would be appreciated

Hi, this video is for our old controller, not the Duet. For the Duet just use Web Control.

Is there a way to prevent endmill scratching the surface of stock from zero position to work lead in position? I was trying to use maximum stock. but after you set zero the machine moves to the lead in position in the same z level until it reaches work lead in. It does not scratch work by the stock.

how to revers z axis gcode move

help I made a good 3 axis cnc mill/router, it has a mach3 usb interface, i can manually jog it with mach3 software. what free design/drawing program can i use and then convert to gcode for mach3 to run the machine? only want 2.5 axis to cut simple parts either cutting /or up and not cutting. example a 5cmx5cm square with rounded corners with a 3mm hole in each corner. would ugs be able to talk to the mach3 usb interface to opperate the machine?

We are not massively familiar with Mach3 to be honest, our machines now use our own interface. Sorry we could not be of much help

Does it support displaying the relative toolpath with a rotary axis?

I have a 2019 Workbee with the Duet 2 controller. The machine has been mothballed due to illness and never connected. Is there instructions/Video on how to connect from the laptop to Duet 2 controller? Is the program different?

Question: Just started using cnc. My machine does not have auto shut offs when reaching the end travel. Have made the mistake of heading in the wrong direction. Sounds like it hops over the threads when it reaches the end of its limit. Disconnect the power cable doesn't work, and disconnected machine via ugs does help either. Can it shut the machine down using a ugs command???

UGS version 2 has a stop button (square icon) on the top. There should be a bigger on-screen kill-switch. Maybe a macro/add-on exists. Probably not too hard to create one. Big CNCs should have at least one physical big red-button easily accessible for safety. (coming from someone who almost lost my hand in a packaging machine but was saved by a kill-switch, before it maybe killed me :) Flipping off the power-switch to the motors on the GRBL circuit board is also a good safety / motor-cut-off.

Hey. How to start a program from the middle of the program. For example - broke the mill?

With GRBL i am afraid you would need to edit your G-Code file using a text editor and find the line where it stopped. Have you thought about switching to the Duet as this has better support for situations like this.

colin hi I am very much a beginner with cnc machines, it is only one of the cheap Chinese desk top things, I have tried a number of different programs, ugs classic looks promising but, when I sent my instructions to the machine the spindle didn't start, I believe the codes are m3 and m4, but Im not sure how to put the codes into the correct places, can someone give me detailed instruction on how to do this please.

Hi Colin, These commands should be set by your post processor. The Vectric software should do it automatically for you.

hello,i can't connect my workbee z1 with UGS (no serial ports found).My connection is ethernet from cnc to usb on laptop using the workbee adaptor.Is this connection right or i must connect ethernet to ethernet?

Hi, the Z1+ does not use UGS. You need to follow our guides here: learn.ooznest.co.uk/c/Original_WorkBee_Z1_Plus__Assembly_Manual#Section_Connecting

Is this software still the go to? I've just bought a workbee but it's a while before it arrives so I'm trying to get up to speed

This is for our old controller. If you just bought it you will have the Duet controller which uses the web control.

Sir my ugs not xy movement

my X-axis is now going in the opposite direction to the button i press, is there a way to reverse this in the software or do I now need to look at my drivers wiring?

Hi, in GRBL send $$, it is the last 3 settings which dictate your work area. See here: github.com/grbl/grbl/wiki/Configuring-Grbl-v0.9

@@ooznest i am new in this.I tried arudino today to uoad gbrl 1.1 ut my board is not arudinio it is some nano I don't know exactly which.I have T2 laser software and with this one software machine is going all along.But I discovered when I wanted to upload machine dimension in T2 software it says that my scatch is 300x300mm...which is exactly same engraving area on LaserGrbl software.Thats confusing me...how to change this scetch to 500x500mm.

Hey sir, i hope you're doing good. Ok, i have a problem, i'm running a cnc prototype, on Arduino Uno / GRBL 1.1 with Universal Gcode Sender Platform (UGS Platform) And when ever i send the Gcode file, it starts moving from (0 ; 0 ; 0) axes to the first point of the actual Draw i did in the Gcode, and STOPS. it says : G-code words consist of a letter and a value. Letter was not found. i'd love to see what do u think about it and how can i fix it.

Hi, thanks for your comment, what CAM program are you using? I think your post processor isn't the correct one for GRBL firmware.

@@ooznest for the design I use inkscape to draw something and the I export it to .gcode file (installed an extension for for exporting this type of files) After this I send to the UGS platform

How you would use the to start the file from a certain point. But you have to be careful doing this, and make sure everything is setup as if it was actually at that point when starting the file from there

Cut2D, V-Carve and Aspire are windows only, therefore they do not work on a Mac. You could run them through a program like Parallels: www.parallels.com/ If you did go the Parallels route, we would not be able to offer assistance setting up Parallels. WorkBee Control is browser-based and installed on the controller, therefore it will work on any device with a web browser.

Ok NOOOW I know why I stopped trying with this. I was used to jogging the machine by holding down the button so when it kept moving after i stopped holding the button down it freaked me out, lol

try bcnc as it better, and have more controler over the machine and it even work on raspberry pi

This is a very informative video. My only criticism is that as a newbie to cnc routing the speed you cover the subject is apparent that you think everybody is as knowledgeable as you. Please understand the majority of people that would benefit from your post are like me & taking your explanations & instructions a bit slower would be better. Thank.you.

i have watched a number of these videos - the visual is very good, audio leaves a lot to be desired. You either need to speak up or wear a microphone
