I was just going to type this. They add tons of features but none of them is stable and most of them are useless for game programming. Every new unity version comes with new bugs and new crash reasons. I am not intersted in better graphics for my low poly game, i am just interested in more stable and usefull tools for making my game. Thats it.

That's gonna change, because the number of Unity users migrating to Godot is skyrocket. Back in the days when Blender was a joke, I started learning 3DSMax. I've switched to Blender of course, enjoying great community and feature set. That's what is going to happen to Godot in a few years. However Godot is nothing as a joke now; it's a perfect solution for game development, due to its OOP friendly structure. If we support such solutions like Godot, the benefits will get back to us soon. @@MuchCow9000Developers should have options when choosing how to light and optimise their game. Right now a lot of popular devices, especially mobile devices, simply don’t have the necessary hardware to handle good looking real-time lighting alongside other features without causing performance problems. Not all of it can be innovated around on the software side, there’s fundamental physical limits to contend with. Unreal’s Lumen is incredible, but it’s not a silver bullet and not every project can afford the performance trade offs. And bad real-time lighting can have so many artefacts and visual flaws that make it more distracting to the player than carefully crafted baked lighting. For example, heavily optimised real-time lighting can result in situations where the player sees a door open, and nearly a full second passes before the shadows refresh to reflect the new light coming in. Baked lighting can let the artists ensure the player is always seeing the lighting they carefully chose for the scene. Real-time lighting in Unity would be a great development, but they shouldn’t throw out baked lighting capabilities, because there’ll likely always be use cases for it.

Its not about the fees, its about Unity trying to force it into everybody by deleting the line in the TOS that protects their customers. Line that was in there to avoid exactly that due to a similar situation happening some years ago

Paying a fee for every purchase? No thanks, a percentage of the sell is one thing, a "fixed" value on each "download" that seems like a big no, lets see how well that will go

The model has been restructured. You can now choose to pay either a percentage of revenue (generally more expensive) or a fixed price per install/purchase based on data supplied by the developer
