Unity 2020 - Fixing Lighting and Texture Seams in Modular sets. Understanding Basic Lightmapping.

In this video I was showing jRocket in Unity Discord on how they might solve their lighting or texture seams in their modular set. I then cover how to work backwards once solving this to optimize your light maps. As you do not want to keep everything on max settings. This means keeping a good enough quality, avoiding noise and keeping the seam away while having sharp enough shadows. This is a basic lightmapping tutorial for Unity 2020 users besides showing how to deal with seams.

    The best way is to unwrap them correctly or try the UV settings.

    You need understand the principles and apply it to YOUR project as shown. It clearly shows before and after for this project. There are many variables other then this that might affect things.

    Hey, when i try light bake, my all normal maps are gone. whats the point ?

    Apart from the overall video, I also don't agree with the constant downsize of the shadow map. Especially in larger scenes you want to redruce drawcalls drastically and in order to do so you want to combine as many assets as possible on a single map instead of 5+ maps that need to be composed per frame.

    That would be one of the advantages of combining many assets together, sure. There is pros and cons to every decision. Combining meshes together will instead increase texture map size and costs among other things.
