► INTRODUCTION
The United States Constitution is the supreme law of the United States of America. The Constitution, originally comprising seven articles, delineates the national frame of government. Its first three articles entrench the doctrine of the separation of powers, whereby the federal government is divided into three branches: the legislative, consisting of the bicameral Congress; the executive, consisting of the President; and the judicial, consisting of the Supreme Court and other federal courts. Articles Four, Five and Six entrench concepts of federalism, describing the rights and responsibilities of state governments and of the states in relationship to the federal government. Article Seven establishes the procedure subsequently used by the thirteen States to ratify it.
Since the Constitution came into force in 1789, it has been amended twenty-seven times. In general, the first ten amendments, known collectively as the Bill of Rights, offer specific protections of individual liberty and justice and place restrictions on the powers of government. The majority of the seventeen later amendments expand individual civil rights protections. Others address issues related to federal authority or modify government processes and procedures. Amendments to the United States Constitution, unlike ones made to many constitutions world-wide, are appended to the end of the document. At seven articles and twenty-seven amendments, it is the shortest written constitution in force. All five pages of the original U.S. Constitution are written on parchment.
The Constitution is interpreted, supplemented, and implemented by a large body of constitutional law. The Constitution of the United States is the first constitution of its kind, adopted by the people's representatives for an expansive nation; and it has influenced the constitutions of other nations.

I graduated high school in 1978. I remember civics class, the constitution was a huge and important part of a passing grade in that class. I chose to home school my daughter from grade 7 thru 12 and she graduated in 2010. Civics wasn't part of the curriculum, so I added it after some research to find it. Do the high schools even offer civics class anymore?

Murder is murder in this case and the people responsible should be held accountable. The insurrectionists were thrown under the bus by our former President after he and his lackeys incited them. They did his dirty work thinking he would protect them. He had no intention of protecting them. Now they are being found and prosecuted and he is sitting back laughing on how he duped them.

Note how the US Constitution establishing our Constitutional Republic is written in beautiful cursive. Further note how most public schools no longer teach reading and writing in cursive. When a people can no longer read their country's founding documents there is something seriously wrong. The other day a twenty something colleague of my wife found a note written in cursive on her desk and came to my wife and asked her what it said. None of this is a coincidence.

Diesel Rizoel, The constitution is a contract. “We, the People” is capitalized for a REASON. Just because you exist within a system does not mean you are a party to it. Contract law 101. For example, just because you use Google, does that mean you can walk into its HQ and use all their employee perks? No. You are not a signatory on their employment contract. News flash, you are NOT THE PEOPLE OR OF THEIR POSTERITY. Listen to this in its entirety and you might see what I mean and what the founders meant. All men are created equal, except Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson’s slaves? Come on, humans. Use your minds a bit more.

Christina Elizabeth except many of the founders wrote about how they despised slavery, or at the least debated the issue heavily because it weighed on their conscious, and some freed their own slaves. The constitution is a law, derived from a latin word that meant "important law" or in practical roman usage "the most important law". Yes it looks similar to a contract, because contract law is a subset of the entirity of legal fields. Law invented contracts. not the other way around.

This is my personal experience with corruption in the court system on a state level. I beat my case though and it didnt ruin my life but if I had lost, It definetly would have been hard to get past. Citizens who decide to take there criminal cases to trial for the purpose of proving there innocents are sometimes exposed to judges and prosecutors collaborating for the purpose of creating a guilty verdict. I believe that, part of the oath that a judge takes says that they are to remain neutral in the court room. *At my jury trial in Hamilton County IN, back in 2010. Not only did this not happen but after final arguements were presented by both, my defense attorney ( Lawrence M. Hansen ) and the D.A. Prosecutor* *When the judge ( Gail Z Bardach ) gave the jury there instructions for jury deliberation, She added a new charge to my case for the jury to deliberate on. She practically took part of my defense and made a new charge out of it and this was after final closing agruements. I think what she did would have been illegal even if it had happen before final closing arguements but the fact that she did this during the process of reading the jury instuctions for deliberating innocent or guilty on each individual charge. Well thats beyond illegal, that's straight up corruption.* *Also at the beginning of the trial during jury selection. One of the citizens who was called in to possibly be selected as a jury member was a bar tender from the very same bar that called the police on me in the case that I was fighting against & taking to trial. My lawyer had the bar tender removed but outta around 330,000 residents in Hamilton County Indiana, I find it very suspicious that one of the 20 or so citizens that were selected to come in for possible jury duty on my case was a bar tender from the very same bar that called the law on me in the very same case that I was fighting against in trial.* My lawer was : Lawrence M. Hansen ( 317 ) 219-3600 , 152 S. 9th street Noblesville, IN 46060 The Judge was : Gail Z. Bardach ( Hamilton County Indiana ) We need to pay attention also to how laws are explained to the people but when passed, the law gets minipulated and used for corruption or as a tool to violate citizen's rights. The seatbelt law is a good example of this. A cop pulls you over because he says that he didnt see your seatbelt on but once at your window he notices that you do have it on and then thats when the investigation begins. questions such as where are you going?, where are you comming from?, just random questions to see if a ticket can still be wrote or even an arrest made. It doesnt even seem to matter that the traffic stop was initially made do to a mistake on the officers part . This an example of a law being presented for the purpose of one thing yet once passed being used for something completely different. ( @MERICAN !NTERMEDIARY ) ( @MER!(@N $0(!&TY R&V0LUT!0N 2045 ) I think that it should be mandatory for every senior in highschool to take a class on they're rights and how to verbalize them properly when needed. At least this way people are informed and cant say that they didnt know. This class should also discuss the laws in the particular state aswell. I understand that only so much can be taught in a semester and I aint promoting a full on law course but just the basics. I got locked up for possession of marijuana my senior year of highschool. I was gone for 6 months and it prevented me from graduating but my point is. I wish I knew back then what I know now, regarding my rights. The truth is that I was ignorant back then yet thought that I knew everything. Understanding your rights is good but effectively being able to verbalize them when put in the actual situation. That is one of the main keys towards protecting your self in this country.

It is clear that the federal government as originally designed was to be small and only used occasionally, but the state governments didn't really step to the job of running things.

When John Adams and Thomas Jefferson were running in opposition for the Presidency, Jefferson ran a campaign of slander, lies, misinformation, false balloting. Read and it will make you cringe. And oh yes, Jefferson was an athiest. Yet ... There's a wonderful story about both men towards the ends of their life. Both were very sick. I can't quote the exact story but it goes something like this: Adams, dying, asked in a husky voice if Jefferson was still alive. "Yes" he was told. "Thank God, the Republic is safe." Then died. Jefferson died shortly afterwards, heavily in debt, his heirs went bankrupt, and he was a slaveholder. Mail and news were slow of course in those days and he hadn't heard of Adams death. He whispered "Is Adams still alive?" "Yes sir." "Then our labor and nation are still secure." And he died a few hours later. We were so God damn lucky (and I say it as almost a prayer), in our first 5 Presidents. Washington was chosen by the Continental Congress because everyone, EVERYONE trusted him. Many new democracies have died under "leaders" who thought they were irreplaceable and seized lifetime power. You can count leaders like Washington on the fingers of one hand, in the whole history of humanity. General and Senator Cincinnatus of Rome was one. Nelson Mandela was one. My very best wishes to you. I'd like to suggest you take a look at the "Good reads" website and find some books about our early leaders. They were far from perfect. But, they didn't hold onto power.

The great men that wrote this put a lot of thought into it . They were brilliant, and they spoke and wrote from experience. They didn't come up with the Constitution overnight. They truly are our founding FATHERS

James Madison wrote the first draft. Brilliant man. Amazes me how many things the government is specifically NOT allowed to do.

Yeah. Americans also should know that America would never win the American Revolutionary War of Independence if France didn't give diplomatic and military assistance to America.

Founded and grounded on the Christian Bible, the Word of God, the men who wrote the Constitution in their public and private writings spoke many times about prayer and the word of God being the foundation for the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

@@chuckhanshaw1638 No, it wasn’t, although these days you’d never know it from someone out there screaming for America to “return to a Christian nation.” America has never been a “Christian nation;” the Constitution was based on (mostly) English law minus the sovereignty and some very vaguely religious precepts from a wide variety of faiths. It was crafted, designed, drawn up, and written by men who represented just about every belief in the human spectrum. Most of them identified as some form of Christian, but they did not approach the Constitution with any religion in mind. They specifically and deliberately did not write, or even conceive of, the Constitution to reflect any one belief. In fact, the very First Amendment to the document explicitly states that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” The United States was originally intended (although it fell far short of expectations) to be a “free” society in which laws and government would not dictate how people should “believe” or forbid them from saying anything they wanted to say, having access to a completely free press, and (just incidentally) peacefully protesting or addressing the government about their legitimate concerns. Anyone who says they want to “turn America back into a Christian nation” doesn’t even know high-school-level history, or what this nation is supposed to be about-nor does anyone who supports authoritarian leadership.
