Gabriel Vasquez Yankee Doodle was a derogatory song mocking the Colonials. So it was adopted as our own song to ignore the mock and make it our own proud boast.

@Yeet Yeet we don't hate the European traditions so much. In fact, our culture has incorporated many of those traditions to make them uniquely American. We DID have a BIG issue with the tyranny of the rule and unfair taxation by King George of England. That was one of the major reasons why when our founders set up our government they didn't want a monarchy. Ideally it was to be a government of, by and for the common people. We got many of those ideas from the Native Americans who we lived peacably with in the beginning of our nation. If it weren't for them, the european immigrants would have NEVER survived. But then racism reared it's ugly head and ruined the once friendly relations we had with the native people. That's one "tradition" we should have left in "the old country".

Fun fact about our Revolutionary uniform. It was just a reverse of the British red uniforms, and custom when doing musicians is to invert the color scheme, so when the musicians were inverted they wore the same red as the British soldiers did.

For those who don‘t understand Swiss German: Top Secret is mentioned because the drum section of The Old Guard played a crucial role at the founding of the Top Secret drum corps. The third drummer from the left, Master Seargent Mark Riley, composed several marches and choreos for Top Secret and played also with them.

The fife and drums wear red with blue because the regulars wear blue and red. Generally you didnt target them in battle so they wore different colours than the regs.

Traditionally, musicians wear opposite colors from the infantry. The exception is Britain, whose musician corps in the Napoleonic Wars wore pink.

"Were" being the operative word ... my all those caps... did you break a nail? First, had a solider in the Continental army worn such a uniform he'd risk being shot on sight by other Continentals... or if captured by the British, hung as a spy... So even though one can post no offence, there will always be those who will instantly take offence.... tis a pity..
