    The 1.9tdi engine came in various power levels and in Golf's, passat's, jetta, audis a3s and a4s but earlier models around the 99-05 era and well beyond. Good solid engines ALZ And ALH blocks are stronger and come intercooled from the factory and are capable of serious power with little or no mods and stage 1 on my bora (jetta) alz is the same power as this with only software mods..... Stage 2 is 220hp and 400ish ft/b of torque but needs a mild hybrid and ALH headstuds to be safe

    I bought a 1999 ranger 4cyl reg cab splash bed 2wd with 144,xxx from my senior citizen next door neighbor for $500 about 3 years ago. I did a eBay cheapo $47 short ram intake, eBay cheapo knockoff Flowmaster, removed catalytic converter, replaced all 8 spark plugs, replaced wires and most gaskets. I installed a eBay cheapo 3/6 static drop kit. I added a fiberglass roll pan, fiberglass bed cover, resealed back glass, added a SAS bazooka 8” and a cheapo $18 EBay stereo. I did replace all cab speakers with Rockford fosgate speakers I had intended to install in a previous vehicle but never got around to it. I replaced all lights with expensive Anzo HID headlights and Anzo altessa rears. I added a metal cowl induction hood and a custom billet grille. I did swap bench seat out with 2004 civic buckets and a explorer center console. I topped the truck off with Saleen 18”s and Pirelli tires. After all was said and done I probably had $2k in the truck total. I also limo tinted all glass in cab including windshield. I drove the ranger in that form for about 9 months daily and ultimately ended up selling it for $4500 because we were moving and at the time I didn’t need a 3rd truck. I do regret selling it. That 8 plug 4cyl was a beast. Super reliable. Ac blew cold and other than the occasional sensor or two going bad I know it’s still running strong wherever it is today.

    Funny thing is, Ford made a stock Ranger, with a diesel, way back in 1983. The truck was a 4-speed stick shift, and had a 2.2L Perkins engine. I'm hoping that the newest Rangers come with both a 2.2L four-cylunder and 3.2L six-cylinder options, both turbo-charged as the 2.3 EcoBoost is.

    @@jk-76 : Honestly, I've thought about putting a diesel in a Subaru, and making my own diesel. The proliferation of grease and oil from cooking food means you get the materials for next to nothing, and you may be able to simply spend some time making the fuel that makes you go down the road. As for the taxes aspect, I completely agree. We now have carbon-capture tech, which means synthesizing diesel. Here in Michigan, Kalamazoo started using algae to break down trash to pure J10 diesel. The problem is, diesels last a long time, if taken care of -- and the American car companies don't want diesels to be used, except in very large and/or heavy applications, such as big-rigs or railroad locomotives. They don't want the family car to be diesel, because that cuts into the yearly new-model profit model they've been operating on for decades.

    I've got a whole 2006 BRM Jetta and the parts to fully rebuild it in south Carolina, if anyone wants everything. I just want what it cost me and can give you receipt copies. The car is drivable to get home. Already stand alone tuned Malone stage 1 for a Ford Ranger. My wife was wrecked in her 2013 CJAA wagon, so I bought a parts car to fix hers, and am using the motor out of it for my ranger swap. The goal is to have the same maintenance parts between our two cars.

Truck has a ton of new parts and is rust free and would be a perfect TDI swap candidate. Located in east Ohio about 15 min south of 70, PM me if you have any questions on it.

Have owned several cars and the one that I want to modify/swap is a cheap high mileage gen 1 raptor (comparable torque) . My XJ and TJ come in a close second. Found a cheap motor and have the shop just need a cheap hooptie…..also open as a third option to gut a cheap Bentley continental GT to convert as a reliable commuter.

    A TDI swapped SUV/Truck would be a dream for me. I have a EA288 MK7 TDI Golf. She’s tuned and probably makes 185whp (of course that’s only butt dino) but it’s a lot more than the original 150 :P. She still gets over 30 in the city and upper 40’s on the highway… I could never let her go.

    I really want to do this swap on my 1998 Ranger. I was leaning towards the TD Conversions adapter for an OE (Mazda-made) Ranger V6 2WD 5-speed, but I'm not in love with that transmission after driving them for several years. I saw they will be coming out with one that matches the small block Ford V8 bell housing, so I'm tempted to wait for that and mate it to a T5 transmission. What final drive ratio are you running? Mine is currently a 7.5" 3.73 LSD, but I want to find a 4.10 Explorer rear, which would give me 1,900 RPM at 65 MPH with taller tires. It's also 1" wider than the Ranger rear, so I can chop my wheelwells to carry 4x8 sheets flat on the floor with 225s.

  • @walkerchild7414

    @walkerchild7414

    2 жыл бұрын

    I used the TD Conversions adapter running the M5OD-R1HD from a 4.0 95 truck, 2wd. 5th gear 0.79, rear end is a 3.31, but my tires are just shy of 27” tall.

    I got a 1993 ranger with the 2.3l 5sp 2wd and just over 500,000 miles! It's my daily to and from work. Doesn't have a tic tap or rap, nor does it use or leak oil. But I know I'm on borrowed time. Another thing, it runs good for what it is but pretty much gutless, I couldn't imagine it being an automatic! Lol. This TDI swap would be the shit especially since the body n frame is in real good shape except for a dinger her n there. I undercoat it with the used oil at least once a year.
