Unique Sustainable Home Built with Nearly 100% Natural Materials - Green Building Tour

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The Eagleyew house is a beautifully sculpted custom green home built with nearly 100% natural materials! The light clay walls are made with a mixture of clay and straw, and the timber frame structure is built using wood from the property. There is a wraparound living roof, and the interior has earthen cob floors and natural plasters.
This house has three heat sources, including a passive solar design, a masonry stove, and an annualized geo solar system. There are also three solar hot water panels on the roof, a well for fresh water, a septic system for waste, and the house is connected to the grid for electricity.
In this video, Ezio, the owner, gives us a full tour, and he’s also going to share some of the challenges he’s encountered while building and living in this alternative energy-efficient home.

This house is, as he said, “a masterpiece”. He is an artist who brought his dream to life. I loved the view where you can’t tell which steps are going up and which are going down! I paused the video there, and sure enough! I couldn’t tell! That bowled me over, thinking that he had planned that long before the building stage!

AGS works in much the same way as Passive Annual Heat Storage. Because earthen mass is a slow 'semi' conductor of thermal energy, we can evoke a desired lag effect. The trick here in the we{s}t coast is to insulate the ground under the house and isolate it from ground water table that rises during our winter mega-rain storms.

The house I share was mass produced and the trim is cardboard/press-wood; it retains water and mold. So many houses I've seen being built are falling apart as they build them. Home buyers really need to educate themselves, and foreign ownership of multiple properties in Canada needs to stop.

This house looks lived in and I appreciate he didn't attempt to remove the lived in look. this gives a better idea of how the house really functions. where they spend the most time. where items tend to collect. as a person who plans on building their own home in the near future these are the kind of videos i enjoy watching! lovely home and lovely video. kudos!

As I plan my own forever home, I notice many homeowners in these videos have so much in common: 1. exceedingly passionate 2. spent 15+ years perfecting their home 3. lonely ('my son used to live here' 'my first wife built this with me' 'I rent the house and live in the tinyhome/workshop nearby') AKA, men convinced they are islands. Clearly, we must build a sustainable communities to surround our sustainable homes. 50 acres and a mansion won't help anyone.
