A place name for a girl I've thought about is the name Ravenna after the city Ravenna in Italy which is along Adriatic coast a little below Venice. I usually lean towards more traditional names but Ravenna is a name I just can't let go of!

Speaking of location names, did you know your daughters name is one? Zeila/Seylac (Somali spelling) is a northern port city in Somali in East Africa. It’s said to be an ancient city & one of the most beautiful cities in the country. Beautiful beaches, amazing weather, and lots of culture and history!!!

The whole Ceylon and Zaire name change thing is due to those countries gaining independence from their European Imperial overlords, with Zaire in particular before the civil war it was actually one big country which included what was the Belgian Congo

I have a little cousin called Venice after Venice beach in L.A because thats where her parents did a 3 week trip to America and they got engaged during the trip. Then when they returned they found out they got pregnant and started making jokes of what name the girl would be and said “ hollywood” and “arizona” and then they said Venice and fell in love with it
