Very unique footpath level crossing next to the Keadby Canal Junction signal box, beside the Stainforth and Keadby Canal. This crossing is one of the strangest I've ever come across. This is technically a request footpath crossing, which is also part of a moving bridge over the canal. There is an old barrier light on a post, a new red light, magnetic-locking gates and two 'e2s' alarms. There are instruction signs on either side of the crossing. In order to cross, you first have to push a button beside the red light. Once pressed this will sound the alarms. The signaller in the signal box will then unlock the gates if no train is approaching. If there is, the alarms will stay on until the gates are unlocked. When the gates are unlocked, the alarms stop and the red light turns off. You are then able to cross over the railway line and moving bridge, following the arrows and yellow walkway. The signaller will lock the gates again once crossed over, and the red lights turn back on.
Thanks For Watching!

Thank you. Yes, I think I saw something online from Network Rail not too long ago posting about the bridge being refurbished :)

Considering i don't like walking over level crossings I reckon I would be ok with this one.The alarms aren't as noisy as normal which helps!

What a fab crossing! I could depend all day here just crossing the river & tracks & watching the trains. Great catches. ❤😊👍

Awesome video. I love the alarm there. At least it's not the extremely common E2S alarm found around the UK. Even though this alarm is E2S it is more rarer.

What an unusual setup... 😕. Rather different to the conventional [🔴⚫] and [⚫🟢] lighting.

It is quite unusual. I think due to the fact the crossing is also situated across a swing bridge, a Red/Green light system may not have worked here.

I remember you guys filming this. Great to see the other angle of it. It would be a good idea to install MWL's here with the existing equipment.

Very nice, I've got questions about this 1. Why is there 2 alarms 2. Why is there a barrier light

Not sure about the alarms but I think the barrier light mounted on the pole used to operate as the pedestrian light before the current one. Since been replaced and no longer in use. I think at least.

Thank you. Just as @benjaymin2916 has said, the barrier light was the old pedestrian light I believe before new ones got installed.

The instructions aren't the best, nor is the fact you need to press the plunger and hold for 3 seconds (as anyone used to pedestrian road crossings where you just press without needing to hold)... the fact the alarm comes on when the gates are already locked, rather than to indicate it's clear to cross (though of course worth noting the contradiction that would arise with other crossings, I guess!)
