Dive into the world of recumbent biking at Cycle-Con 2023! Organized by WizWheelz, this North American expo showcases the latest in laid-back cycling. Following their acquisition in 2022, WizWheelz took the helm for the second time, relocating the event 20 miles west of Dayton to Xenia, Ohio, drawing enthusiasts from all around the US and Canada.

The expo hall, though compact, brimmed with activity, especially on Saturday. The atmosphere buzzed with energy. With perfect weather on our side and ample space, organizers set up an extensive test track, including a thrilling gravel stretch. Test rides were aplenty, exploring the latest innovations in recumbent technology.
Two official group rides were organized, one sponsored by Greenspeed on Saturday afternoon and another led by Mat Galat, the familiar face behind the @JaYoeNation channel, on Sunday morning.
Beyond the vibrant rides, attendees had the opportunity to attend workshops, lectures, and even a short film festival over the weekend. The expo floor boasted an array of exhibitors, showcasing the finest in recumbent bikes and accessories. Brands like HP Velotechnik, Trident, Terra Trike, Bacchetta, AZUB, Steintrikes, Greenspeed, Velomobile World, Catrike, Cruzbike, and many more displayed their latest offerings.

There a new pinion 12 speed mid drive just came out hopefully there will be one able to mound on my Scorpion FS 26 trike. Currently have a Rohloff 14 speed hub on 26” wheel with 12 speed pinion gearbox on boom stock from factory, add Rohloff hub. My Scorpion will climb a wall, well almost a sideways wall. 154 gears like having 6 x 14 low range - 6 x 12 high range anyone heard more about the new pinion mid drive 12 speed gearbox?
trikes should have the option of steps and a pinion gearbox

Many of them have such option, however combination of both is hardly possible and would require having Pinion as a middrive. Better solution is using a Rohloff instead.

new trikes should have it as a middrive option instead of the boom, frames could have a lego piece that could house a gearbox

@@davidwolfs9505 well, some dealers may be able to do that. I have even seen it in combination of a Pinion and 10 or so speed cassette. But, our experience is way different. With an e-assist you don't need so many gears unless you are really heavy and you need to conquer very steep hills. For common use even in hilly areas, you need the range, but not so many gears. It is at the end annoying to shift all the time, because the motors accelerate quickly. You end up shifting by two or three gears at a time then. That is also a reason why Pinion has offered the P1.9 XR and their new electric drive doesn't offer 18 gears, but only 12 with 600% of gear range.

why the combination with a cassette ?, cheap single speed front and back is also a option, only the rear chain loop needs a chain tensioner and sprockets can be chosen for mountain or flat for the largest battery range

and for speed you can go for most travelled distance per crank rotation
