My very first impression inside: that railing is so physically & visually intrusive! I get that they needed something secure for a rental, but even painting it white would help. The bathroom & main bedroom are cool. As a retired attorney, I worry about that tiny crawl-thru space. I'm sure there's an egress window in the bedroom, but in an emergency, if an adult needed to retrieve a child, that could prove difficult. As always, a great, informative, balanced video review!

I agree with most of your assessments. I'd would prefer more kitchen counter space vs. bathtub. I'd also would like a stovetop and oven, collapsible dining table or counter with stools. I'd probably extend the kitchen into that extra downstairs bedroom with the Murphy bed. As for the heavy banister for the floating stairs, I'd put a lightweight rail with those wires or maybe plexiglass to provide more transparency. Better yet, utilize that downstairs bedroom space to somehow build a stairway that's out of the way. I do like the height of the TV though. The upstairs bedroom wall with the micro door doesn't work for me. Jenny

We liked your criticism, as it was fair. You pointed out the strong as well as the weak points of full-time living in this tiny home. Ourselves, we liked how spacious the bathroom was, but as you said, it comes at a cost of having a smaller countertop. We liked the skylight, as we like stargazing lol! :D Great tour guys!

The sun shining in the sky light is a mid-day issue. In the early morning the sun will be too low to shine through. I think the three bedroom design was specific for it being a rental. Though three bedrooms full of people would be crowded in the living space especially as there is no table.

Seating as well. I remember seeing a genius idea on some TV show about tiny homes where they had 5 seats inside of one, and the cushions on the bottom sides came off to make the tops of said extra 4 seats. It was such a good idea! It can just act as a regular little seat during the day, or a foot rest, come busy times, suddenly you have 4 extra seats.

I felt like they pointed out a lot of design flaws as well. But I think ALL houses tiny or not have them. I wonder what their own Tiny House looks like and what design flaws their MUST have. Wonder if they got permission to dissect these people property on KZread like they are. It could very well cost them some future renters.

🙋🏻‍♀️. I definitely agree with the fact you have pointed out. Railing, a smaller bathroom don’t get me wrong. That bath tub was beautiful but I’m with you on more counter space. The height in the gooseneck was great but could have been more planned out for a better layout for being a three bedroom Tiny. Maybe it was built only for short term rental. Great review you guys.🏠

I actually really love this design as a 2 bedroom. Especially the walk through the bathroom to the bedroom. I could see this being extremely comfortable for a person new to tiny homes with only a few adjustments. Plus these bedrooms are the first I’ve seen that seem like they’d actually be functional long term.

Oh man! Hard pass on needing to go through the bathroom to get to the main bedroom! As a kid, sleeping at my cousin's house, we would routinely get stuck in her bedroom because you had to go through the bathroom to get to it! I promise, you will be late for breakfast if grandpa or grandma goes into the bathroom before you are ready to leave the bedroom! Ugh. Unless you're fond of climbing out windows and sliding down the woodpile like we did, find a better way!😂

I agree on all points. Like you said, for full time living (FTL), you’d need a place for a hamper and more storage for supplies. The lower “bedroom” could double as a dining area, or triple as the tv area, giving the much more kitchen space needed to be FTL. Plus, then, you’d be able to keep that large bathroom! The intended kids’ room door would be fun for them up to a HS age, but not beyond. The “Master” bed was situated incorrectly. The room was obviously designed to have the headboard at the front of the unit, (heads under the skylight). One of the reading lamps was too far away to be of any use other than ambient lighting. The only other I could see for FTL would be the lack of rebuild ability. Everything is finished out nicely, but what happens if you want to change something? Great video guys! Keep them coming, and we hope to see you at Skoolie Palooza 2021 in January!

I’m bummed that the bed didn’t lift to expose more storage. Also, the stairs were crazy distracting to me personally. Lastly, was the tub and. They lost so much room adding the tub and I wish they would have added storage or and true closet. Oh, that lost room was a waste if good space used different bc I’d go crazy in that box

Amazing is two stand-up rooms in a Tiny house. The bathroom is amazing too but I would have opted for a shower-tub combo, which could allow to extend the kitchen. Regarding the third room I would choose a ladder because for me it would be a storage room only. Without the stairs in the living room the place would offer much more space - perhaps for a table as well.

As we get older, these kind of gooseneck tiny homes would be a sound investment. I LOVE the Murphy bed concept and the stand bedroom. I agree that the bath is a complete disaster in the area on lost space. A Shower/ toilet with pedestal sink could gain ALOT of storage space. The stairs would defiantly have to be re-thought to make this a winner. Did anyone catch the square footage? Also, does it require a different floor plan in a gooseneck design?

Good dual perspective of owner vs rental. I personally got the bathroom with a shower and separate bathtub. Been years if not over a decade of not using the bathtub to bathe, showering has been my way of living. Would change the size of the tub for a smaller tub version and place the shower inside with a seating space. So the tub could be used for those larger blankets. Have a combo washer-dryer as I don't use laundromats, and get the option of hanging the washing when the weather permits. Above the washer-dryer, have racks with the bottom hinged to iron the clothes and have packing space for the not ironed items and bathroom/clothes washing essentials. Keep the stairs, but switch the kitchen to under the stairs and have an L shaped kitchen with counter space. Close the stairs off for pantry space. Thus freeing up the now kitchen with a french or sliding door and a full length deck on the opposite side with an awning as an entertainment area. The cramped door, larger as I hate small the claustrophobic door space. Have a balcony with catwalk to the other loft. Smaller plant boxes for herbs and some plants to get nature in and fresh herbs to use in the cooking. The catwalk making it an experience of space to walk to the other bedroom, and it doesn't need to be 6' in height, I'm about 5'8½. With some extra storage for the not in use every day items put there, as well as shoes, arts and crafts. Bedrooms more packing spaces and floor to ceiling cupboards. Change the skylight to the other seasons clothing storage with the whole ceiling, and selected doors to gain access and not needing to climb. Downstairs bedroom, keep the murphy bed, just have pivoting shelves and workbench that becomes the base support, so slash office/study/arts and crafts room. Living space, get an island or mini wall that acts as a table and storage, fold up chairs, but then again have the larger deck for entertainment. TV or large monitor facing the couch to distinguish between a sleeping space and watching programs. Small yet large enough wood burner in matt black or purple for a pop of color to heat my toosh in winter. All as a permanent living space and my readjustments.

I disagree. I don't think the problem is the aesthetic, I think the problem is functional. These aren't storage stairs, there's no function other than to get up to the loft. Therefore, using a ladder of any kind would have been a better choice. You'd free up a ton of space that is currently not being used at all. Also, I'm not so sure the floating stairs were a good idea for a staircase. They look incredibly unstable when this couple was walking up.

I love the exterior and the outside deck area. It's a visually striking exterior but, the interior could have been planned better. I've seen much smaller tiny homes with alot more storage and more surfaces. Love the full bath tub. The shower could have been incorporated into the tub which would have allowed for a larger living/kitchen space and more surfaces or storage in those areas. Also that staircase across from kitchen should have been built with storage under each step.

You can tell between the tv and the bed side lights that the bed was intended to face the the other way (so you see the headboard when you walk in) and they moved it up against the wall to give people floor space and my guess so people could put their suitcases under the bed. Definitely makes a difference that it is a rental instead of a house.

Yeah that was a rather unfortunate mistake lol "Measure twice, cut once." In fact, when it comes to tiny homes, "measure THRICE, cut once." is probably more apt. Taking them apart for maintenance is even more painful due to the small cramped space, there's nowhere else to go! lol Even better if you plan ahead for potential moving of things just for changing things up, you can still allow for some freedoms in layout if you design properly. Plenty of wall sockets is always a good simple way, non-fixed furnitures if you want to redesign some stuff, hooks to hold them in to the floor or against walls can keep them having a disco when you are moving around. This is definitely a measure 10 times cut once approach though! You need to have some god-like foresight to see what potential ways you might want to re-arrange things over time and potential issues you could face.

I loved the outside of this tiny home rental, especially the use of color and the privacy screen. On the inside, the triangle window in the front area is amazing - love it! The upstairs bedroom is fit for a hobbit or a child but being as it’s a rental, the coolness and wow factors should at least be good for a few laughs. I agree that the banister is very large, but if I owned this rental, it would stay in place for safety reasons. For a rental, this place looks great. It’s not meant to be used as a longterm solution and is clearly not designed that way, but it makes an excellent example of what to look for when planning your own tiny home. Overall, I think the home is nice and I really enjoyed this video!

I don’t live in a tiny home but I live in a small bungalow. I have taken tiny home principles to work out my space issues. I have freed my mind on how to work my space to live functionally. I’m happier and find life easier. At one point in time I had 5 people living here because of the economy a little bit of an issue with only one bathroom but we made it. That tiny home is definitely set up for temporary stays not permanent living. The day to day activities would become irritating. Thank you for your show just wanted you to know you inspire even beyond just tiny home living. Oh my square footage is approx 912 square feet if you were wondering how I managed 5 people.

The small bedroom off the living area would be great used as extra living area..Then adding fold out walls to encapsulate a separate work/sleep area when needed.. Like tgat the whole area isn't taken up with kitchen counters as who makes everything to eat all at once? Add a fold out counter at the end over the couch that folds up as a partition if absolutely more is needed.. 💜

Your critique of this gigantic tiny house was spot on. A tinyer house could have so much more well thought out amenities. When I'm ready to buy one next summer, I'd love for you to critique it for me 😊 before the purchase.

You made lots of great comments and I agree with everything you said about the rental. I would not like a tiny home like this for full time living and probably not on my vacation agenda either.

Probably one of the better uses of "Tiny Homes" is for fairy tale vacation rentals. RE: complaints about the stair railing - at the same time that tiny devotees decry not being allowed everywhere because of "regulations", they want to flout common sense safety by usually having interior staircases with no outside railing. Not mentioned in virtually every tiny video is that features like that teeny upstairs door would prevent a fire fighter or other emergency personnel wearing safety gear from entering. Tiny Tranquility is a cute place with the tiny homes as the resort feature.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. Really great for a rental but not so practical for full time living. Love the gooseneck bedroom (except the tv placement)….would definitely lose the tub and gain more kitchen space. Great video as usual, guys!!

My husband and I are trying to figure out how to build our family a tiny home and this was super helpful! We want three bedrooms so us and our two kids have privacy but definitely would want more counter space and an oven/stove. We also want a bathtub but combined with a shower. I watch a lot of tiny house videos and this one didn't use the space as well as most tinier houses I've seen but this is a rental so it does make sense. Still beautiful.

A beautiful nicely designed tiny home. Some of the things mentioned of course make sense if you lived there, but a fantastic job otherwise. The skylight in the bedroom is generally hot without the shade which is why some opt-out of it.

I really like the bedroom in the tung and you can feel like it is really big too. And I also agree with what you guys said about that bathroom and I think that is too much GLASS, just think that if you had children that are a little too busy, you all know what I mean lol. And the rail is on the wrong side , and loft is really really too small for a older person like me , but my grandchildren would love it too. But all in all I really think it is really nice to get away from that crazy life lol . Much love Elena ❤️🐢💋

Definitely a beautiful space for a rental. I especially like the outdoor area but more counter space in the kitchen and a stove are essential to me for full-time living. I also love the bedroom over the gooseneck. That’s my preference.

Have to agree with pretty much everything. An option you could do with that bathroom for more shelving is a drop-down shelf above the bath. Might mean making the window a little taller, or having a taller one up next to the wall / shower that latches on, but it's doable for sure. That way you can keep the bath and still have the shelving when you need either. That staircase just screams for a small handrail and glass panels floating off it. It'd look so nice. Align the glass panels with the steps as well. It'd fit so nicely. That crawl-space door is obscenely tiny lol, I think most drain access hatches have more clearance! They definitely need to up the size of that for sure. Don't go too small, even if it is just for kids, you still need to get up there in emergencies or to clean things occasionally! This is coming from a person that'd favor crawl-spaces for efficient use of height, but even I think that's too small for regular use and I'm thin as it gets. Another option at that gooseneck section is raising the floor up ever so slightly to get some ground storage for a bunch of stuff, and have deep storage under the bed. Or, as I would personally have it, a half-height bed with space under it like you'd typically see in van conversions. You could fit a LOT of clothes under there hung up and still have space to sit up on the bed above.

I like the railing and the way it's placed. To me the railing on pushes you out to the edge of the stairs making it more likely to fall off such narrow steps.

Love it! The key to successfully living in a tiny house is to make every single inch count. Like the storage under the stairs in the bathroom. Or eliminating the bathtub. I don't see the logic in having the shower/ tub as separate entities in a tiny home. I agree that some kinda table is necessary- makes life easier. And finally the privacy screen, wicked cool both in function & appearance. Would definitely invest in 1 if it was my tiny home!🌃🎃 🏡

The house is manic , I love a tub and not separate shower. Dishwasher is great and plexiglass rail wall would accentuate floating steps. The outside is like a crazy quilt; too busy for my eye. That looky Lou issue would become intrusive but I love looking. Thanks.

I love the bath tub in there. Why not put the shower over the bath and make more storage space? That's a whole wardrobe space for example. OR, put the loo where the shower is, move the shower/bath closer to it and create a little more space on that side for a small robe or bank of draws and then put a full robe where the loo currently is plus some more linen storage in the bathroom.... There are many ways to design and build one of these babies. So just a thought, not a diss.
