    it's a long one. Ringo's narration never scared me at all. However it was Percy alone mostly who would scare the hell out of me such as some of his face expressions such as his shut eyes one and his laughing faces whenever they were shown in any scene. The music at the time in ghost train scared me so much too including other scenes that had percy in there, mostly when he crashed into the cart of lime and then his accident with trickle and later on when he crashed with the fruit train and got covered in it. Even in the scenes where Percy teased Thomas in the episode "Thomas, Percy and the Dragon" where he had that laughing expression also scared me cause it always and even that part where he closed his eyes in fright when Thomas got payback on him (despite I thought it was funny of Thomas to get even with him). Haunted Henry also scared me mostly with the music and the scenery around it even when Henry made that spooked expression when he yelled out.

  • @PepsiAddict18

    @PepsiAddict18

    6 жыл бұрын

    I understand, Glen. Agreed with you, seeing Thomas get payback on Percy in "Thomas, Percy and the Dragon" was definitely funny. Come to think of it, the part in "Percy Runs Away" where Percy shuts his eyes as Gordon approaches - Percy's face, I mean - does look creepy.

  • @Kanefan701

    @Kanefan701

    6 жыл бұрын

    yes thats what I mean. I mean yeah percy's suppose to portray as the youngest member as a kid or a cute youngster which as least I thought he was due to how he was shown but with some of his faces made him look too creepy yet it's suppose to show him being scared or tightly closing them to await a crash or something which I can understand clearly but still he looked way to creepy and yes most times I'd get some of the most horrible nightmares of it including the two other expressions percy had where as the other ones were fine and ok to see.

    I think I know why this is the case for so many people... It's the faces coming RIGHT AT THE CAMERA! It's a cinematic technique that's often used in horror films or scenes designed to make the audience feel uncomfortable, as it looks like the subject is coming right at them. The Lighthouse (2019) is a great example of how scary this can be. No idea why its such a common/reoccurring visual in a children's show.

    1. The truck saying "OH LOOK! HENRY'S SPOOKED!" in Haunted Henry was BY FAR the scariest moment for me. I remember hiding behind the settee when this bit came up. 2. The very end of Percy's Chocolate Crunch when the narrator said "Percy just beamed." Percy's smile was enough to give me nightmares. 3. In Rusty and the Boulder, from the scene when the Boulder crashed into the shed all the way until the end. 4. The scene in Home at Last when the Fat Controller was scolding Duncan. That and TFC's theme. 5. The final scene in A Bad Day for Sir Handel. The music when the narrator said "After that, I think Sir Handel will. Don't you?" 6. In Horrid Lorry, when one of the lorries falls off the cliff. I remember my grandad and I would pause the Spooks and Surprises VHS to make it look like the lorry got stuck in mid-air! 7. Also in Percy's Chocolate Crunch, the part where Percy went through the chocolate factory gave me chills. 8. The Fat Controller's angry face in Series 6. 9. Duncan Gets Spooked. Period. 10. The final scene in Happy Ever After, when Thomas and Percy are talking in the shed. 11. Diesel's expression in The World's Strongest Engine when the narrator says "This made Diesel very cross!" Also, while technically not a scene in a Thomas episode, the Video Collection logo at the start and end of the Series 1 UK VHS scared me for years. When the TV tilts and blacks out the screen...I still get goosebumps to this day.

    One moment that scared me was the sound effect they used for when the bee stings James. It was unlike any sound I've ever heard in the show before. I don't know how they used that sound. Another terrifying moment was the close up of Allicia Botti's uvula when she screams. That used to freak me out so much when I was really little. Two other moments that didn't really scare me but did find rather unsettling was Duncan's shocked face in Home at Last as well as the music in that scene and Henry spitting out water.

    I have a phobia of bizarre images, and when I was a kid I was always afraid of the brief moment from "Old Iron" where James' driver is seen being ill. It has a very surreal quality to it that gave me the creeps, and that was the only thing that ever frightened me on the show. I also had a book that had the Old Iron story in it that used screenshots rather than illustrations, and for some reason the book used a scrapped image of the driver that showed him in Henry's cab (probably the reason it was scrapped), and I found that even more frightening than the image they actually used in the episode.

    The moments that scared me most were the crash scenes. I was terrified that they were going to either get stuck there forever in engine pain and terror or that they were going to... somehow "reveal" their "true" evil nature and murder everyone. I GENUINELY used to believe as a kid that the engines all had a main dark side and were just any moment away from murdering anyone and everything, including coming through the screen and getting me too. The moments where they were happy were just the in-between. I also always thought that the Fat Controller was a right bastard who could also do the same. ...Funny thing is I still can't get that feeling to go away completely--

    There were pleanty of Thomas moments that scared me as well. The fruit landing on Percy looked weird, and that whiney kazoo music you hear also bothered me (I thought the fruit was making that noise). The bee in "Buzz, Buzz" never scared me but Carlin's loud "EEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!" As James did (also seeing James with a red nose). The music you hear in "Breakvan" when the camera pans towards him also creeped me out (his face also used to really creep me out). Ringo's " 'HELP! HELP!', cried Thomas" also scared me (as well as the shot of coal covering Thomas with his face shut), and Percy falling into the coal also frightened me. Ringo's loud "BLEUAGH!!!" As Gordon also startled me as well as Percy's shut-eyed frightened face. Henry's wincing face did weird me out a little, but what frightened me more about that episode was George Carlin's loud "AAAAAA-CHOOOOOOOOO!!!" And that high-pitched whistle when the ashes come at the boys bothered me. Oh, and there's also Ringo's "Owwiee! Ooowwwiiieeee!" As the trucks in "Pop Goes the Diesel" Daisy shuttering also used to frighten me as a kid as well.

    I personally thought James getting stung on the nose was the scariest moment of Thomas and Friends. I used to avoid that episode until about a few years ago.

    The only unintentional scene that scared me was the elephant in the tunnel and its sound from Henry and the Elephant, glad I’m not the only one as I’ve seen a few comments relating to this. Good video by the way.
