I wish American culture valued master craftsmen more as a society. Anything you can think of in Japanese society there is a master craftsman for and apprentices to carry into the next generation (from everything to making the smallest fishing rods and hooks the size of a grain of rice, to building without nails, silk spinning, gift wrapping, you name it.there's someone in Japan who'd dedicated most of there life to that one craft)

Even as a young teenager I could only bear 5 seconds of that crap... Not saying I didn't watch crap, but I still distinguish "honest" crap from utter and total crap. Like what you said or "Yu-Gi-Oh", for example (both utter, total crap, of course). I would be very embarassed to reference that myself or even "like" it just because I've heard the name before. When I lived in Japan I always tried to find artist/craft people who would demonstrate and explain their craft to the public. Just wish my Japanese was a lot better, as I no longer have my Japanese friend along with me to translate.
