@@Hidden2u 31 trillion in debt. The banks don't have money to pay. Your logic is that a bank that is defaulting because it doesn't have the liquidity, can pay the people back.

@@KB-nt7eg This might be out of your expertise so let me explain further: operating banks are required to pay insurance premiums to the FDIC to cover any payouts that may be needed in the event of a collapsed bank. These premiums are what is used to cover up to $250k per account when a bank fails-not tax payer dollars. Only the first $250k is insured so any amount above that is at significant risk of being permanently lost (hence the run on SVB). The only hope at recovery is either 1) another bank comes in and buys the collapsed bank or 2) once the collapsed bank’s assets are sold, there’s sufficient money to give depositors back their deposited funds. There’s no tax payer bailout. Hope this information is helpful! Have a good one!

The irony is, VC is why we need 5+% fed rates. The money going down the toilet for stupid waste of capital is why 0% rates were stupid. This will only embolden the Fed to raise rates further.

They need to change it for every employer that holds a bank account so that the employer buys 250k insurance for a few bucks for every employee they payroll by that bank account, treating each employee as an account liability. Obviously 250k per employer's account doesn't cut it.

I would not get really excited about this until about Tuesday PM. That'll give the receiver and FDIC time to look, get a handle on what's up and some options. Likewise, potential assistors are figuring out what they've got available and how much they're willing to apply toward some solutions ... give them a good 4 day period, they'll all be working 7/24 that time.
