It's a shame I found these videos so late. I prefer the classical music chosen here over the usual generic rock nonsense featured in most videos from this genra. As well the wide range of keenly honed skills displayed in this video and the following videos are nothing short of inspiring. Thank you.

Fantastic! Thank you! you are not an Unimog owner, you are an ARTIST! The conversion is very solid and strong. I am entertaining buying a newer model and modify it to make a wagon/SUV. Unimogs are the ultimate in off road and utility vehicle. Also, thanks for the music! it is my favorite.

I worked along side some so called steel fabricators for many years and with hand on heart tell you that you would put them to shame chap, your method of work is a total pleasure to watch, I have been out my workshop for 2 weeks as the grandchildren are here for Christmas so this helped along way with my shop withdrawal pain. keep up the great work and vids.

Thank you! That means a lot!! I had a lot of fun building the truck. It's even come a long way since this video. Now has new upholstery, a custom canvas top and top frame, side steps for the rear doors, and drop sides for the bed. I enjoy driving it around town and it gets a lot of compliments wherever I go.

Wow amazing work I did this same process to my 1962 404 Swiss troop carrier in 2003-2004 Watching you was like watching myself almost the exact same in every detail. I did this when I lived in New Mexico I drove the truck as a daily driver during spring and fall we made many trips to Moab and Colorado we did the Chili challenge twice since we moved to Texas in 2009 I have used it very little. I had several people approach me about doing theirs but when you give them a price they don't know how much work is involved in it. Looks great keep your wheel side down.

Welding floor panels from underneath was best part, but probably not for the operator. Great video, music was as bad as Christmas music but that is what mute is for. Amazing fabrication, doubly so in only 8 days.

Reminds me of an extension my dad built to the house when I was a kid, dad was an aero engine mechanic, he put in a steel re-enforced concrete beam to support the overhanging roof on a porch, a couple of weeks later his pal a structural engineer came round and his opinion on the build was "it's probably strong enough so long as you don't put more than 10 floors on top" :-)

What a great video, shows the serious amount of work needed to do something like this that previously I would have thought 'weld a few bits on' and bob's your uncle... Really interesting to watch how it was all constructed thanks for taking the time to video it all so well so we could see what you were doing.

desertpir8 I would love to hear some more details about your DoKa conversion. I have watched your video numerous times and my friend and I are about to undertake that project on. I like your design for the rear cab support. How does it ride? How far back did you extend the cab? Does it alter the articulation of the chassis noticeably? How did you support the bed? Does it pivot also Thank you Dan

Great job ! I really enjoyed watching this build, and wondered where you are located. I noticed the Cactus behind you and the seemingly good weather, then those distant hills too., so I thought , " He's gotta be in Arizona," my favorite state to visit. Most videos have 'head pounding music' which usually drives me away, but this one I stayed and even turned up the volume a tad, I really enjoyed watching,...and listening, all the while I could sense the smell of the welding, hahaha! ( I'm a hobbyist welder and fabricator, this is why this video appealed to me.) I envy you where you live and the project most of all. Good job, you have to proud !
