Unihertz Jelly 2E Review - $139 Credit Card Sized Smartphone!

Absolutely fantastic for the price and the size. If you are someone who is tired of carrying around a bulky phone and you want something that can still do a lot of the functions of the larger devices, the Unihertz Jelly 2E is definitely for you. My review of the $139 credit card sized smartphone!

Great battery life, decent screen, decent performance for a great price.
I love that you take time to review phones not named pixel or Samsung. You keep it fun. Love this! Cheers.

I remember that back in the day my BlackBerry Torch 9810 had the same size screen as the Jelly, yet typing, whether using the onscreen or physical keyboard, was a breeze. Looking forward to getting my Jelly 2e!.
For anyone concerned with typing on a tiny keyboard, it's fine! If you have giant man thumbs, you might need to take a little more time or perhaps get a mini stylus for entering passwords and stuff (tho it does have Google sync so if you turn that on, it can autofill stuff for you). But for texting and stuff? Just swipe! (Swype?). The keyboard allows you to use a finger to simply swipe over the letters you want and it'll automatically figure out what word you're shooting for. It learns with use from you too. And there is a microphone you can talk to text with too if that's easier for you.

@@StevealiciousTech 👍. Definitely.
In case anyone is wondering, the Jelly 2 (and presumably the 2E) do technically sorta work with Verizon BUT not really. There have been a lot of recent complaints that MMS (texting photos) and visual voicemail do not work if you use a Verizon sim card. I used an activated Verizon sim card and I did not have luck with MMS messages. You can use a different messaging app and may have more success. The phone also did not totally recognize the service as being Verizon. When I would look at the mobile network, it displayed as Sprint instead of Verizon. The APNs were Verizon though but editing the APNs to try and get reliable service and MMS messaging did not help. Other people have recently reported the same issues. I also noticed that the phone did not have reliable service (on my previous phone, I had reliable service with the same sim card in a Verizon-approved phone). One explanation I've read is that the phone tries to connect to Sprint towers instead of Verizon and it gets confused? Also probably contributed to extra poor battery life. Even using wifi to call was pretty spotty. I also was not receiving all my calls and texts unless I restarted the phone. After searching online, no one seems to have found a real solution to using Verizon with the Jelly 2 (and probably 2E). So I've switched over to Mint Mobile (which uses T-Mobile service).

I am having similar if not the same issues with Verizon. If I am lucky I can talk for 3 minutes before I get cut off. Keeps dropping service. Text do not work at all. Help!

I've been looking into this as a wifi music player for playing offline amazon music, and having something small that lets me use my phone and save phone battery. Was going to get the new ipod touch but they discontinued it and now its like 600 plus dollars :(. Looked around at "hifi" (just about any quality phone is hifi now) devices like sony walkman and andriod players (which all suck) , but even with the walkman they are still asking 300 plus for an old android os, new old stock players that have old batteries sitting in a warehouse for years. Yeah the sony has a decent amp, but the fact this little Jelly can still pump out 24bit 96khz through the 3.5mm, have a longer lasting battery, more applications (like using it as offline geocaching device or backup phone/compass/light ect.), be able to have more memory with the higher cap sd card hardware, and be smaller AT HALF THE PRICE. If you are like me and trying to find a quality budget friendly app enabled music player, forget the Fiios and Walkmans. Stop searching, go order up one of these bad boys for a sweet one fiddy, slap a 10 dollar sd card in it and call it a good day ;)
DO NOT TYPE letter by letter Use swipe typing instead it works great i have the jelly 2 for a year as my only smartphone so, i can tell

Thanks for another Great Review. I will order one for sure. Love the smaller sized phones. My wife says I have a problem always ordering phones then putting them on the shelf LOL. I told her I am not as bad as some people, I only have 30 to 40 phones. (Lots of older blackberry devices) How many do you average at this Time? My guess is you have close to 100 devices.

@@StevealiciousTech I live in Paris Ontario Canada, and in the booming years of Blackberry/RIM had more than 10 friends working there. Most would let me take their unused employee purchase plan devices and always had a huge stock of new phones. For a while I got into repairing bb devices and loved to rebuild the blackberry Torch (wife's favorite device) I wish more companies would go back to the smaller devices. Thanks for all that you do reviewing devices for us. YOUR TIME IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED

Niceeeee.
Any update on the camera quality? I have lots of issues with the original Jelly 2 pictures. Eg : Taking photos in whatsapp are blurry when you take then, but clear when you send. (this happened after the Android 11 update) QR Code scanning take multiple tries McDonalds Monopoly , the camera was unable to scan the codes on the cards I know they are trying to save $$$ but it makes no sense to remove NFC
Man, I just wish they'd keep NFC. Here in Canada it ends up 200$ for the 2E vs 300$ for the 2, honestly don't need the 6-core but want freedom to leave my wallet in the car.
When will Unihertz release a 5G compatible Jelly ? That's all that's stopping me from buying one since the U.S. has shut down almost all 3G and 4G.
Nice…that’s a great phone for a runner

@@StevealiciousTech what carrier are you using on this jelly 2e?
Looks great, great specs, great price. Really does scratch that itch that I want from a phone.a My only issue is UniHertz being based out of China I've read online some conspiracies that there's some sort of Chinese spyware on their devices.
