    The carb content in the dash diet encourages water retention, which as a woman, I am prone to. The dash diet did not help to lower my blood pressure one bit even while I'm taking blood pressure medication.

    Good to see your video on DASH. Interestingly the DASH eating plan was pretty much heading towards Plant-based but the originator (s) didn't think they could sell it to the American public so some meat was added on the relatively healthy end of the nutritional spectrum.

    It's an interesting diet actually. I like how it eliminates harmful heavy meats (like Red Meat) and enunciates fruits, veggies, poultry and fish. Can I also do this along with intermittent fasting and/or liquid fasting?

    Its just a basic example, but there are many recipes online that you could try that follow this diet and will make the food taste good. Just gotta put in some time, plus its fun learning how to cook which is a whole lifeskill. Prioritizing your health is the best investment you could ever make. Worth more than any amount of money…

    @@Lazirus951 Deep-diving into the topic, this seems to be an area of current debate. Until recently, a list of gluten containing grains for coeliacs to avoid would contain wheat, rye, oats, barley, and millet. As for more recent study, pure untainted oats do in fact appear to be "gluten free", but putting aside contact with other glutenous grains, they still contain a protein that will react badly with substantial numbers of people in the same way as regular gluten. A lot of coeliacs or gluten-intolerant people will be able to eat "pure" oats, but the proportion of people still likely to be affected by the other protein in oats (which I'd google the name of if I were less tired) is far too high for oats to be recommended for coeliacs or the gluten intolerant. Food labelling differs from country to country, but in Australia oats are still classified as unsafe for coeliacs, regardless of their processing method.

    Why did they leave out beans?

  • @aethylwulfeiii6502

    @aethylwulfeiii6502

    Because people mostly just buy and eat canned beans which typically have close to 2000 mg per real serving: because dry beans are a pain in the arse. So if you do beans you need to rinse the living daylights out of them.

    This is just "common sense" eating. I lost 50lbs with this diet, but you still need to be active. Gym or an active sport (mine is tennis (or pickleball if you prefer). Don't think of it as a Diet. it's just eating sensibly.

    You could definitely eat healthier than the DASH Diet, but for the average person the improved TASTE of the DASH Diet's more liberal food selection might be the difference between FOLLOWING this diet and not following it. The, say, uh, "Nothing But Raw Organic Kale And Don't You Dare Use Any Condiments Diet" is healthier, but no one would actually follow it. Follow the dash diet, but slowly but surely eliminate the less health items like crackers, etc.
